God's Timing

....What's more, who can say but that you have been elevated to the palace for just such a time as this?"
-Esther 4:14b (New Living Translation)
If you will read the book of Esther in the Bible, you can see that Esther faced many challenges in her life. Both her parents died and her people were taken from their country into a foreign land. In spite of everything she went through, Esther was a good child for her cousin Mordecai who raised her.
In time, Esther grew and was selected to be the queen of the land where her people had been taken captive. She carefully headed the warnings of her cousin to keep her Jewish heritage a secret. Then, tragedy struck. Mordecai angered one of the government officials, Haman, by refusing to bow down in worship to him.
Haman came up with a plot to destroy all of the Jews, including women and children, by having them brutally murdered. At this point, Esther had a choice to make. She could either try to save her own skin or she could help her people become free from the oppression that was about to overtake them. Fortunately, she made the right choice and helped her people. Haman was killed and the Jews were able to have vengeance upon the people who wanted to destroy them.
God puts each of us into situations in our lives where we have the power to make choices. Our choices can impact other people in such profound ways that we may not even realize just how powerful they are. My challenge to you today is to evaluate the choices you have in front of you and look for ways to benefit other people.
