Founded by two Singaporean friends, Global Vegetarian provides delicious, healthy meals at very affordable prices. Portions are big and ample enough to be shared. All their food is freshly prepared, so be prepared to wait for your meal. We were kept waiting 30 mins between our entrée and main, but the great food and cheap prices make it worthwhile.
The name is “Global” simply because the menu is. Tastes from every part of the world are catered to here, from Herbed Polenta Chips to a mean Thai Green Curry served on rice (yummmm!!).
The atmosphere is lively and café style and the restaurant is full no matter what day of the week. They are also busy with constant take-away orders. Customers have self-serve access to water, cutlery and condiments, providing a relaxed and informal environment.
Must try entrées
Herbed Polenta Chips – large chunks of Polenta oven-crisped to perfection and served with salsa
Yam Surprise – deep fried yam pieces mixed with vermicelli noodles and a sweet-tangy lime salsa
Tempura – vegetable fritters served with ginger and soy sauce
Must try mains
Green curry – a tofu and vegetable stew spiced with lemongrass and basil served on rice
Southern Indian curry mix – lentil curry and spiced vegetables served on rice
Rice Vermicelli combo – tofu and vegetables cooked in a shiitake mushroom and black bean sauce served on thin rice noodles
Besides the menu, there are daily specials and a variety of desserts available. Also choose from their selection of herbal teas including rosehip and lemongrass and ginger.
