Glides
September 19th 2006 07:56
I haven't written a post on this blog for awhile and this is so I can give you time to practise the moves demonstrated on my previous posts. It is all very easy to do arm waves and body waves but you also want to be able move and not stand in one spot when you dance. One way of doing this is through the use of glides.
Note: I have added a link so you can see a visual demonstration if the instructions are too difficult to follow.
1)Stand with your legs shoulder width apart.
2)Bend your right foot so that you are leaning all your body weight on it. Your right heel should not be touching the ground. However, your toes and the ball of that foot should be.
3)Push off with your right foot so that your left leg is forced to move to the side slightly touching the ground.
4)When you do this your right foot should be flat on the ground and your left foot should be in the same position as your other foot was before; heel raised.
5)Drag your right foot so that it crosses over to your left foot.
6)When you do this your right foot should be directly in front of your left. Your right foot however should be pointed to the right. Not straight ahead.
7)You should be in the same position as you were when you completed step 2.
8)Repeat steps.
