Glam Bam Thank You Ma'am

Glam rock (also known as glitter rock), is a style of rock music, which initially surfaced in the post-hippie early 1970s. Although glam rock has been around in one form or another thru out the history of rock music, even up to the present. But in 1975 we saw the decline and death of this era of glam. The American Glam rock made less of a commercial impression and was largely confined to enclaves of fans in the cities of New York, Detroit, Cleveland and Los Angeles.
Glam fans usually referred as "glitter kids" and performers distinguished themselves with Sci fi or old Hollywood glamour. Often confused with hair metal, glam rock took its fans on a gender bending rollercoaster of theatrics. Musically it typically fairly simple, with crunchy guitar rock put across with outrageous theatricality. Most of the music was catchy, with melodies drawn from bubblegum pop and hip-shaking rhythms from early rock & roll. Lyrically, the genre's emphasis was most often centred on sexual matters, but drugs, science fiction and "teenage revolution" were also key subjects. However, the later bands of the glam rock genre tended to be more arty than the earlier band, producing a very diverse range of musical talent.
The ‘key’ glam rock artists about whom there is no argument were T.Rex, David Bowie, and Roxy Music. Other artists who are almost universally included under the glam rock banner include Gary Glitter, Queen, Mott The Hoople, Brian Eno, Lou Reed, Sweet, and Slade, plus a few select US acts such as New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Kiss.

HAHA thanks for stopping by! Amethyst..... so perfect
From wiki:
It is also associated with the astrological signs of Pisces, Aries (especially the violet and purple variety), Aquarius, and Sagittarius. It is a symbol of heavenly understanding, and of the pioneer in thought and action on the philosophical, religious, spiritual, and material planes. Ranking members of the Roman Catholic Church traditionally wear rings set with a large amethyst as part of their office.
The Greek word "amethystos" basically can be translated as "not drunken." Amethyst was considered to be a strong antidote against drunkenness, which is why wine goblets were often carved from it. Supposedly, when a drunken Dionysus was pursuing a maiden called Amethystos, who refused his affections, she prayed to the gods to remain chaste. The goddess Artemis granted the prayer, transforming her into a white stone; humbled by Amethystos' desire to remain chaste, Dionysus poured wine over the stone she had become as an offering, dying the crystals purple.
Very funny!

Flashes of memories
I`m so not even old enough for this post! I wasn`t even born in 1975, however i HAVE some reedeeming graces here...
1) I have heard of Gary Glitter... I watched 'Sliding Doors' and there was a scene with the two lovers in a boat and the guy said... 'She wanted to 'touch him theeeeerrreee' - there was a reference to Gary Glitter so I take it that it had something to do with one of his one songs?
2) Fergie just released a new song... 'G-L-A-M..." I take it she got it?
3) I have heard of T. Rex - he was a rather large dinosaur from the REALLY, REALLLLLY old ages
4) Roxy is a current brand name lable in Australia
5) I`m taking the mick and I really do know who all these people are.... and actually enjoy some of these music even if they were making music before I was born!
Gotta love legends!
