Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

give me STRENGTH

Do you have a saying that you subconsciously use constantly? Mine is "GIVE ME STRENGTH" i think I must ask for strength about a thousand times a day......
The kettle is taking too long to boil - give me strength
The lights are red - give me strength
Work - GIVE ME STRENGTH x 100.....

It is just something that has found it`s way into my everyday language and it drives my sister insane. So a while ago we were sitting and chatting about something or another and out it popped, I was asking for strength with something. Well, she was off like a rocket into her bag and scratching around with a wicked grin on her face. She pulled her hand out and dropped a small, smooth black rock into my hand with one word on it - - STRENGTH - - - "There you go!", she said! Just like that! *lol* So I carry my little rock of strength with me now and everytime I look at it I have to chuckle........

Do you have one of these sayings? A few words that just tumble out every now and again without you noticing?

Ash,

I LOVE your Posts ...

Your titles?

They're enough for me to open up the post ...

My favourite saying ...?

It's not mine at all ...

It's St. Augustine's ...

LORD GIVE ME PATIENCE BUT NOT JUST YET! ...

Let me live in debauchery a bit longer ... PLEASE! ...

St. Augstine? He was as depraved as they come ...

But finally, he caved in to his mother's tears and prayers ...

My mother ... I wish she wouldn't pray and cry in front of me ...

I'm not ready for Conversion ...

Do you know of any pagan gods I can pray to? Sort of do a bit of a fatwah on my mother's prayers and tears ...

I want to get LAID before I convert ...

HELP!

ANYONE?

***

David ... (all calm here now ...

David....

As always very poetic. Sorry I pray to my God - not sure of any pagan ones, but you won`t find them here....

As for getting laid....hhhmmmm thought you had found love with your Adelaide girl......
Always a contradiction dear.....always a contradiction.................

Refrain from your debauchery.....or at least here plz..... find the STRENGTH to resist!

Hey Ash, I do have a lot of sayings that I repeat to myself... Won't tell you what they are, because they're too embarrassing... But I think it's very interesting that people's minds do work in this way, do repeat mantras; and it raises the whole question of whether one should improve one's mantras, find new ones...

Hi Adrian
Very true! I regularly hear that if you say things often enough they work their way into your subconscious and can come true.

I will win the lotto, I will win the lotto......

I find that when I'm mid-conversation, and we've suddenly run out of things to say, I pose the question in my head, "Have you been to the city lately?"

I'll either think to myself, "I already know the answer to that," or, "What a boring question," and will soon eventuate to launching into conversation again.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read this post. It's what I think in those awkward silent moments.

Ah I hate those moments Opto-mystic! Good thing you have a contingency plan lined up! hhhhhmmm maybe something I should consider myself.....

Hey David, good work on the Augustine quote. My favourite one of his is "Those that truly love God can do what they like."

I think mine is "God help me." I need alot of help throughout the day.
