Get Over It!
September 11th 2008 06:20
It seems that everyday this unpredictable set of events which we call life become more difficult as we progress through it. It's funny how we never take the time to notice how messed up our system really is. Sure it's easy for you if your family has a history of being well off or if you by some random chance are blessed with a sinful amount of wealth, but what about the rest of us less fortunate beings who do not have the luxury to even go out. It is becoming more evident that this country is falling into a regression everyday and not just economically but also socially.
I take an intermediate dance course and am an assistant for another dance class and it is shocking to see how shy the students of BOTH classes seem to be. They have gotten lost in their own little world of fear and social misquotation that they dance horrendously and can not seem to process the fact that if they just relaxed and tried to have fun instead of worrying so much about how the other students see them, they might actually enjoy dancing. The truth is that everyone is too caught up in trying to get the dance steps right to have the luxury of looking around so as to laugh at the mistakes of others. Our society has made interactions with one another a burden and it is worsening with every passing year. If you find yourself saying what the heck is he talking about then let me try to include you into this topic?
Consider your relationships with the people around you and when i say the people around you I'm not talking about your girlfriend or boyfriend or best friend that you've know since god knows when. I'm talking about all those people who you pass by on a regular basis who you have never taken the time to introduce yourself to. Maybe it's that beautiful girl who works in the office next to you or that guy who is really cute in you history class, the point is you still haven't worked up the nerve to talk to them. In our society we have learned to isolate ourselves so much that we become afraid when we are presented with situations in which someone may judge us. My only response for those of you who can relate to what I'm saying is WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS THINK!!! Most Americans lack a healthy self-image. How many guys have dated a girl who believes she is overweight even though she looks amazing? I know I have and it is the biggest turn-off. The truth is that not everyone can be a size zero and we should be happy with it. In all honesty what we need to do is stop worrying so much about the fake images of beauty which continues to make companies rich and need to concentrate more on putting ourselves out there and socializing. Who knows who you might meet by just simply saying "Hi my name is _______ what's your name?"
