For Entertainmen Purposes Only

November 10th 2008 16:58

Think about your direct bodily experience of life.

No one can lie to you about that.

How many hours a day do you spend in front of a television screen?
A computer screen?
Behind an automobile windscreen?
All three screens combined?

What are you being screened from?

How much of your life comes at you through a screen, vicariously?

Is watching things as exciting as DOING things?
Do you have enough time to DO all the things that you want to do?
Do you have enough energy to?

And how many hours a day do you sleep?
How are you affected by standardized time, designed solely to synchronize your movements with those of millions of other people?
How long do you ever go without knowing what time it is?
Who or what controls your minutes and hours?

The minutes and hours that add up to your life?

Can you put a value on a beautiful day, when the birds are singing and people are walking around together?
How many dollars an hour does it take to pay you to stay inside and sell things or file papers?
What will you get later that could make up for this day of your life?

How are you affected by being in crowds, by being surrounded by anonymous masses?
Do you find yourself blocking your emotional responses to other human beings?

And who prepares your meals?
Do you ever eat by yourself?
Do you ever eat standing up?
How much do you know about what you eat and where it comes from?

How much do you trust it?

What are we deprived of by labor-saving devices?
By thought-saving devices?
How are you affected by the requirements of efficiency, which place value on the product rather than the process, on the future rather than the present, the present moment that is getting shorter and shorter as we speed faster and faster into the future?
What are we speeding towards?

Are we saving time?
Saving it up for what?

How are you affected by being moved around in prescribed paths, in elevators, buses, subways, escalators, on highways and sidewalks?
By moving, working, and living in two and three dimensional grids?
How are you affected by being organized, immobilized, and scheduled...instead of wandering, roaming freely and spontaneously?
Scavenging?

How much freedom of movement do you have--freedom to move through space, to move as far as you want, in new and unexplored directions?

And how are you affected by waiting?
Waiting in line, waiting in traffic, waiting to eat, waiting for the bus, waiting for the bathroom--learning to punish and ignore your spontaneous urges?

How are you affected by holding back your desires?

By sexual repression, by the delay or denial of pleasure, starting in childhood, along with the suppression of everything in you that is spontaneous, everything that evidences your wild nature, your membership in the animal kingdom?

Is pleasure dangerous?
Could danger be joyous?

Do you ever need to see the sky?
Can you see stars in it anymore?
Do you ever need to see water, leaves, foliage, animals?
Glinting, glimmering, moving?

Is that why you have a pet, an aquarium, houseplants?
Or are television and video your glinting, glimmering, moving?

How much of your life comes at you through a screen, vicariously?

Do videotapes of yourself and your friends fascinate you, as if you are somehow more real in image than in life?

If your life was made into a movie, would it be worth watching?
And how do you feel in situations of enforced passivity?
How are you affected by a non-stop assault of symbolic communication-- audio, visual, print, billboard, computer, video, radio, robotic voices--as you wander through the forest of signs?
What are they urging upon you?

Do you ever need solitude, quite, contemplation?
Do you remember it?
Thinking on your own, rather than reacting to stimuli?
Is it hard to look away?

Is looking away the very thing that is not permitted?

Where can you go to find silence and solitude?
Not white noise, but pure silence?
Not loneliness, but gentle solitude?
How often have you stopped to ask yourself questions like these?
Do you find yourself committing acts of symbolic violence?
Do you ever feel lonely in a way that words cannot even express?

Do you ever feel ready to lose control?

If this inspired you, I can provide you your ticket out of this world.

Why I Hate Atheists

September 13th 2008 06:39

I hate Atheists because they hate God.
But tell me something, Mr. Atheist.
How can you hate God, if he doesn't exist?
Your need to spread Atheism is worse than the Vatican spreading Catholicism.
That's right, I said, it.
You guys try to shove religion down people's throats harder than Jehovah's Witnesses.
I've met CHRISTIANS more religiously tolerant than you.
How about this:
You believe what you want to believe.
I'll believe what I want to believe.
And we'll both let the Catholics/Christians/and everyone else believe what they want to believe.

Whether you agree or are pissed off, and would like to read my new book "Atheism: I Ain't 'Fraid Of No Gods!" send me a comment or message or something with your email, and I'll hook you up.

Legalize Drugs in America!

August 13th 2008 19:54

First and foremost I want to say that I am not a drug user.
Nor am I for the use of drugs other than those used for medical purposes, and used as directed.

With that being said, here's my case:

Our government is so fixated on stopping drugs (see War On Drugs), but every time local law-enforcement make a big drug bust, the Dealers out on the streets profit from it. These kinds of things give Dealers ample reason to drive up prices of drugs. In turn, the rest of us are getting mugged and robbed so the junkies can get the money to afford another fix.

The solution?

Legalize drugs. This will take profit away from the trade. The junkie losers who prey on society to support their habit could then destroy their already inferior brains at little cost to their wallets, and no danger to us law-abiding, tax-paying citizens.

Why should billions be taken from our economy by the Drug Enforcement Agency, junkies robbing to support their habit, and court time? Who cares if a loser, raised with no purpose, destroys his brain? Wouldn't your child be less likely to get on drugs through peer pressure if one of his already hooked peers had nothing to gain? Wouldn't you rather a junkie blow his mind with over-the-counter narcotics than maim or kill you or one of your loved ones for the money to buy from a Dealer?

Our great-great-grandparents could buy any narcotic over-the-counter. Drug-induced crimes were too rare to document. Drug addicts not only had no need to prey on society to support their habit but they soon died, taking their inferior selves out of the gene pool. Now, babies are born showing withdrawal symptoms. Hundreds of thousands of degenerates are breeding like rabbits, both out of ignorance and to get more Aid to Dependent Children so as to buy more drugs.

End the War on Drugs, Legalize!

It's A Trap! The Happening.

June 15th 2008 04:48
So I just saw The Happening. Without reviewing or talking about the movie, I'm going to talk about how this movie was conceived.

M. Night Shamalamawhatever and one of his buddies were sitting around drinking one night, when somehow he came up with the idea to bet his buddy he could make a joke movie, promote it as serious, and get a bunch of people to go see it

With the upcoming election, everyone ages 18 should be registered to vote.
While filing out that form you're going to be asked what political party you represent.
Me, personally, I left it blank because I don't agree with everything any one political party says. And why associate my self with the Liberals if I think the Conservatives have a few good points, or vice versa? But that's just me, personally. Many of you may agree 100% with one political party. Many of you don't know who you agree with because well shit...you don't know anything about politics

Commonly Misused Expressions

January 4th 2008 00:55
I'll be working on a series of grammar-related things that anger me. If I can educate just a few people, I've done something right.

All right.

Don't Start With A Definition

January 3rd 2008 19:54
Anybody who starts an essay/paper/article/whatever by defining a term, stop. Seriously. I'm not even joking. If I were to write this article by starting with a definition, it would go something like this:

"Incompetent is defined by Google.com as 'any person who, though not insane, is, by reason of old age, disease, weakness of mind, or any other cause, unable unassisted to properly meet requirements for a suited purpose
