Gang Problems

Some years before marrying Hine I bought my own home. It was a nice area with all of us neighbours getting on well with one another. Many of us were Christians. Then a gang moved into the street. They settled in and by all appearances kept to themselves.
Clover Kids was going well and we had just started up a night group for adults. Around this time, a rival gang moved in. It worked like this, party, party, and then another party. Then there would be quiet while we ran our home group. On the other side of us, the rival gang had a run of parties. It was not always like this.
Amongst our many wedding presents was a van. My wife would go pick up people that wanted to come to the home group. This particular night I went out back to pray for the meeting. I walked around out back when this person came running through my backyard. He asked me if I could go look and see if the police had left.
I told him to go look himself. He did, then came and asked if he could stay until they left. We sat down at my picnic bench and began discussing the Lord. You know the four-lane highway and then quietly lead on to the Roman road. He was very responsive and gladly accepted a steps to peace with God booklet but was not to keen to make a commitment.
I then asked if I could pray for him. He consented. We had just finished when the outside light came on. My wife had returned with a van of home group members and was wondering where I was as the street was crawling with cops. Imagine my surprise when in the light I saw I had been praying for a gang member. Not only was he patched, he also wore a sergeant of arms tag.
I invited him in to the meeting but he declined. We talked a little longer. Soon the police dispersed and our little street returned to normal, well almost.
