ESRB Gives Manhunt 2 the green light! (LINK)

August 27th 2007 16:26
Rockstar has announced that a reworked version of its controversial Manhunt 2 has been granted an M rating by the ESRB. Free of the shackles of its original AO classification, the game is currently scheduled for release in the US on Wii, PS2 and PSP this Halloween, October 31.

Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games noted of the decision, “Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we’re glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience”. He continued, “We love the horror genre. Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it.”

In its original guise, Manhunt 2 was granted an AO rating by the ESRB, meaning that neither Sony or Nintendo would permit the game to appear on its consoles. Meanwhile, Rockstar is currently appealing the British Board of Film Classification’s decision to refuse certification for the game in the UK, effectively banning it from sale in the country.

Rockstar’s UK PR team were unable to comment on the status of the appeal, nor whether we can expect this reworked version of Manhunt 2 to be resubmitted to the BBFC in the near future.

My Gaming Update!

August 27th 2007 16:14

Well it has been a VERY busy week for me and here at the site. Just because there is so many news and games that I need to cover. As PAX has kicked off this weekend that just past. A good amount of news has been hitting the internet tubes. The most and more exciting that has been a game which has been getting a great amount of great scores and when I say a great amount it has been getting 9 and 10s across the board. From gamers to major websites have been enjoying the game Bioshock. I myself is playing it and I have to say it is one of the best games right now this year, 2K games kicked off a great title to get us gamers ready for one of the most impressive line-up of games in a long time. Maybe I could say the year of 1999 where games coming out in the fall into next year. Where just all hype and blockbuster titles a good majority of casual and hardcore gamers are looking forward too. I also started to play Two Worlds which some of my friends on my xbox live friends list says it is okay. But not great and I think playing a title like Bioshock might be hard to find a other title right now that could draw you in. Bioshock has it all great story, visual, gameplay, controls. It has it if you have not played it download the demo right now on Xbox Live, and if you want more of the game and find out what is Rapture and why you are there, rent it, buy it gamefly it do whatever because you will not go wrong with this title. I myself is enjoying it a lot and a lot of gamers out there on the forums have complain and said “Where’s the Online Play” here is my answer there is no need for one. WHY? The game is amazing as is. If 2K Games makes any download content that is great, but this game is amazing as is and trust you. This title is fine without multi-player. Well I will be having a full review of Bioshock and maybe Two Worlds have not made the full decision on it yet. I will for sure have a full review of Bioshock have not made a choice if it will be on video, audio or just a write up. So stay tuned for further updates and the latest headlines as we are less than a month away from Halo 3 and also a couple of days away from another titles “Stanglehold” which also the demo is ready for download on Xbox Live. Check it out!

Also have some questions or will like to talk about Bioshock or what games you are looking forward to these upcoming months. Head Over to the Passion For Games Forums

Super Metroid for Download

August 22nd 2007 10:37
It's Metroid month. Nintendo's amazing first-person adventure sequel debuts on Wii August 27 and the company last week released the classic that started it all on the Virtual Console. Now, it's following up with what many to be the greatest Metroid game ever made: Super Metroid. It's available now for download on the VC, so what're you waiting for?

In addition to Samus Aran's S-NES adventure, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master and Neutopia are also available for download. We've got descriptions of all the games below, verbatim, courtesy Nintendo's release:

Super Metroid (Super NES, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Violence, 800 Wii Points): The Space Pirates, merciless agents of the evil Mother Brain, have stolen the last Metroid from a research station, and once again Mother Brain threatens the safety of the galaxy. Samus Aran must don her awesome array of high-tech weaponry to retrieve the deadly Metroid hidden deep within the cave-riddled planet Zebes. Super Metroid features excellent graphics, with a huge variety of enemies and worlds to explore. The side-view action will be familiar to many players, only now there are new weapons and items, including the Grappling Beam, which allows Samus to swing across large chasms, and the X-Ray Scope, which reveals secret passages.

Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E10 for Everyone 10 and Older - Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): In this thrilling sequel to The Revenge of Shinobi, Joe Musashi finds that Neo Zeed - the crime syndicate he believed he had wiped out two years earlier - is indeed still alive and well. The return of Neo Zeed and its leader, the mysterious Shadow Master, forces Musashi to return from exile and confront the growing evil. As the Shinobi, the master of long-forgotten Oboro Ninjitsu martial arts, Musashi must utilize all his powers to overcome his various enemies. Thanks to his considerable combat skills and special Ninjitsu moves, only the Shinobi can thwart Neo Zeed and vanquish the Shadow Master.

Neutopia (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): In this action role-playing game, you take control of a brave boy who sets off on a journey to rescue the kidnapped princess and reclaim the eight medallions that were stolen by the evil demon, Dirth. You'll need to rely on your magic compass and information you've gathered to find entrances to labyrinths and defeat the bosses in them. Solve puzzles, avoid traps, move blocks and destroy walls to uncover secret rooms in the labyrinths. Carefully use your map to uncover hidden treasure and powerful equipment. Travel the land, underground, sea and sky on your quest to recover the medallions. With a save function, the right difficulty level and a system that doesn't include experience points, this is truly an RPG that anyone can enjoy.

Pachter believes that for the month of July, which will be official from NPD on Aug. 23, that the DS (450,000 units) and Wii (330,000) dominated sales in North America. Although, for the first time ever, the PS3 will show sales of 160,000 units, while the Xbox 360 will have 115,000. This would also mean that the PS3 will have doubled sales since announcing their 60GB clearance sale last month. He goes on to say that the Xbox warranty issue was a speed bump for Microsoft as “as consumers struggled with the meaning of the ‘three red rings of death’ issue.” He believes that the price cut and apparent fix of the design flaw will rebound Xbox 360 sales.

on Microsoft already working working on 3rd console?

August 21st 2007 21:22
yup I agree. I remember watching a Xbox 360 documentary and they said the Xbox 360 project was started right after the launch of the Xbox consoles hit world wide.

it is going to be interesting to what happens. Just because look at what happen with the rumble feature. When Sony lost the case with Immersion and now the PS3 had no rumble on launch.

hey thanks a lot. I will be updating both sites every day. I will try to bring all my readers the lastest news, rumors and everything on the gaming industry. If there is anything you want to know like a confirmation on a rumor, review on a game let me know and I will give you me input on it. What consoles do you currently own right now? As me I have a broken Xbox 360 and a PS3 which I did not get a extended warranty on my 360 so right now I'm in search for a used one. But I also bought a PS3 and right now I kind of regret it because there is no games what so ever out right now that I want to buy. So hit me up! my main email is ricanelite757@verizon.net and we could talk about games. Last thing I will be starting a Podcast show about gaming so if you have any suggestions or will like to be a co-host let me know as well. Thanks for checking out my site and keep checking back because there will be plenty of news and coverage that I gather up from the gaming world.
