Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

games of the gods

I saw a parting in the clouds today
And wondered if the gods were looking
Down
What games they were playing
As they moved their pawns on the
Stage of life below

Zeus and Hera sat
Hand in hand their mighty
Thrones solid,
proud,
strong..

They watched as the scenes
Unfolded

Would Aphrodite teach a
Heart of stone to love
Once more and aid
The gentle lessons of Apollo
To heal a broken soul
Or would they allow the
Raging war of words
And deathly arrows that lay in
In Artemis’s quiver to
Sink into flesh they knew
So well?

Perhaps Demeter would grow
A field of love, vines that tangled
But did not choke and thorns that
Protected but did not prick
Bearing grapes to make the
Bottles of Dionysus proud
To hold such worthy elixirs

What message would Hermes
Bring today?
Would he be showing the way
To the Underworld
Or would I be allowed to
Stay and play just one more
Lifetime?
Hours happily spent
Weaving lives and loves
That would make Athena’s
Heart swell with pride.

I wish to walk with Hephaestus’
Limp, one that I would bare
With pride, for I am not worthy
To shine on Olympus with the gods
Nor do I bear the blackened heart of
Those who toil in Poseidon`s world
I care not to walk with Ares
In his world of war and chaos

And only search for my place
Amongst mere mortals
Who tread the vicissitudes
Of a tainted life

I wondered what would happen
When the night of a day
Of toil under a sun
That would soon be a moon
Folded its darkened arms
Of shooting stars and
Twinkling lights
Would Zeus laugh and
Clap thunderous applause
As the curtains closed once again?
I knew not but silently begged
The play to play again
With a different writer
And a freshly dipped quill
Instead he
winked and smiled
‘I think they will all
Have their turn to play’

Hey Ash,

I ilke the imagery of the gods playing.

I've generally found though, that God tends to play chess, not dice.....

Aaah, beauty sweet girl. Marion Zimmer Bradley says it best "The Gods do not need reasons for what they do"
All humans move toward godlike evolution, and even the Gods must answer to the Creator.

Enjoyed the post. My mom used to read stories of Greek and Roman God and Goddesses as I was growing up. Lovely!

Divinely inspired, no doubt. Incredible translation of your experience. For a moment, you stopped time completely in Wendiland... and that's not such an easy task. Excellent write.

Ash,

I really enjoyed it.

I like them all, but I like this one best, because I studied Greek gods for ages and loved what you did with them ... it is exactly as they would wish and want, need and plead, when the game was afoot.

It all reminded me of an ABBA song ...

..and the gods may throw a dice,
their hearts as cold as ice,
and someone way down here...
looses someone dear...

... funny I should think of that?

*shrug*

PS the deck I use to read with is the Mythic Greek Tarot...

Hi JZ,

Ah indeed God does smile down on us from above...I don`t think we are his pawns though...nor do I think he plays dice

Hiya K,

I loved your comment....so wise....indeed we shall all have to answer one day...

Hi Mis,

Ah I love ancient history...skimmed through it for my degree back in the foggy Uni days gone by they have such wonderful stories don`t they?

Hi Wendi,

Thanks for your compliment...am humbled by your response I was walking back to the car today while out shopping and looked up to see this great hole in the clouds...immediately I felt compelled to write this and penned it hurriedly on the back of my shopping docket sitting in the car...amazing where you find inspiration huh?

thanks again

Evening Lilla,

am pleased you liked this one best....it is something so different from what I normally write...I liked the way they inspired the thoughts...

I too, love ancient history....my introduction was in junior school where we had to do class plays on various myths and legends every week...I loved it...

interesting choice of song lyrics........

I don`t really know much about Tarot...do different decks mean different things or do they just have different pictures...apologies if I sound a little ....AAAARRRGGGHHH I can`t think of the word....not insincere or stupid but along those lines...i have sat here for about 5 minutes trying to think of it, I can see it in my mind but it will not transform into a visual...I am sure you know what I mean *clicking fingers*

thanks for the visits all...am humbly glad you liked it...

Ash,

..yes, all decks are different and many claim to be the original. Historically, Taraot comes from the Hebrews. It was handed down to the nomads, the bohemians from the Hebrew language. I am currently learning Hebrew and have come to learn that the 22 letters, are each represented in a pictoral form, one on each of the Major Arcana (or extra 22 cards) of the Tarot Deck - which otherwise has the normal number of playing cards, in four suits - plus the 22 on top of it.

Each suit has the usual Ace to 10 and court cards, Knights, Queen and King.

The reading of them uses clairvoyance(spiritual seeing), clairaudience (spiritual hearing), clairsentience (sixth sense) and claircognisense (spiritual feeling). Sometimes Channelling takes place, this is when the reader has direct contact with a dearly departed loved one, or an angel appears to guide the querent, or propmpt the reader.

The reader may also use their guides, these are like angels and are already known to the reader.

We all have the ability to 'read' and be in touch withour guides, but few ever puruse it anymore, although perhaps now there is a bit of a renaissance thanks to movements like Harry Potter, which raise curiosty. Unfortunately, over indulgence in alcohol, heavy metal and drugs has taken too many souls along the wrong path too. I spent much time "fixing" them sometimes, as I'm sure every reader does.

It's a shame the church adopted such an exclusive attitude to spiritual activities, because so many young people do need a good minister, but still want to live in the real world. They don't want to be damned but truly want ot pursue a better life without knowing how, so they seek out Tarot card readers.

It's kinda like cutting out the middle man in a way. A good reader can guide you to your own guides and help you transform into the person you want to be. Most readers have a very strong theological background and understanding of scripture, but there are always charlitans in every trade, even car mechanics.*lol* anyhoo...

My cards feature all the Major Greek gods as the pictures on the 22 and each of the suits, and unlike other decks which are random, mine tell great Greek stories, which always offer me greater insight when reading them. There are other decks that tell stories too. Druidic ones, Celtic gods and myths, Faeries and fables, even Christian ones.

Wands (which is clubs in normal cards) [represents spirit, energy and passions] tells the story of Jason and the search for the golden fleece.

Swords (which is spades), [represents the mind, intellect] tells the story of Orestes and the curse of the House of Atreus - a dark tale full of conflict, drama, intrigue, murder, betrayal and just about every deception imaginable. At it's core lies a conflict of two great opposing principles. (much like the mind)..

Cups (which is Hearts), [represents love, emotions, harmony], tells the great, age-old story of Eros and Psyche.

Pentangles - or coins (Which is diamonds), [represents the material, financial, ambitions/career side of life], tells the subtle tale of Daedalus, the Athenian crasftman who built the Labyrinth for King Minos of Crete.

...don't know why I chose the song I did, but in view of the way yesterday unfolded, I may well yet be psychic...hope this helps you understand Ash, I know you said previously you were curious about it.

Lilla ...

Lilla -

Not that you're not busy enough, but have you thought of adding a Tarot category to your blog, or setting up one specifically for Tarot? I learn so much from your tidbits here and there; you've got a beautiful and "real" way of bringing across information that I can relate to really well, as I'm sure can others. I'd love it if you offered casual lessons in blog form. Have you considered that?

Hi Lilla,

Wow! thanks for this I have printed it out because there is a lot in there that I want to investigate further.
I am really enjoying discovering all this new information, the crystals and gemstones and dream meanings are priority 1 at the moment...but this fits in nicely with it...I am tired of looking for answers, I find that people don`t understand or are not really interested but since I have started to look at these areas I realise that sometimes you have the answers within you just need to know how to look for them...and finding them that way are a lot more fulfilling anyways.....
I hope your day was not too 'icy' - did I detect some sadness in your last words?
