Games at work.

April 11th 2008 15:33
I am working at a call centre during the summer to earn some quids for when i return to university. In the periods where i am not trying to flog trips to legoland or some other product i am equally tired of selling i like nothing more than to waste my time. I would like to share the three games i have found during my time at work which have served this purpose best. I hope to both provide people in a similar situation to me with some mild entertainment and also to inspire people to write about the games they play at work to help me out in return.

The first free game i would like to suggest is Tardis Tennis, this is on the BBC website.. The game is a very simple tennis sim but you can choose to play as John Lennon, Queen Victoria or Shakespeare, you take on each opponent in succession and once you have defeated the main opponents you face the mighty William Churchill. The game itself is surprisingly challenging and it took me a good few hours to beat. It also has great replay value as you revist the game as a different charecter or try to perfect your serve and volley. Hours of fun.

The next game i stumbled across was Dirt bike, in this game you (obviously) control a dirt bike through a series of unusual objects. You have to keep the dirt bike balanced or you'll crash and have to start again. There are 3 versions of this game and completing them all is enough to waste nearly a whole day. Once your done you can go back and try and do it again, but faster. Not as fun as Tardis Tennis but it does put your brain in that numb kind of state that is much appreciated at work. The game is all over the internet but all three versions are avaliable at freeonlinegames.com.

Finally another offering from the bbc is their six nations rugby game, again it is a simple sports sim but is very enjoyable. You play as a six nations team of your choice and must defeat all of the other teams which get progressively harder to claim the six nations title. The game is not particularly difficult but the final team you play may take a couple of attempts to beat. The game however does save your scores which you can then go back and try to beat. I suggest entering into a competition with a colleague to see who can score the most points against a given team.

One last tip on a great way to waste time at work, write an article about how you waste time at work. Aswell as passing the time sharing your boredom feels slightly therepuetic.
