A Review of the Nintendo DSi Pt. 2

The DSi also features a web browser. Although it is a little slow and you can't watch videos, it comes in handy if you find yourself in a wi-fi hotspot.
The DSi also includes a DSi shop. Much like the Wii Shop, it allows users to use Nintendo points to purchase and download fun little games to their DSi and play them. Nintendo has released a few, but more are on the way.
Finally, Nintendo also made some upgrades to the DS. The new speakers have a much higher quality than the last ones. The screens are .25 inches bigger than the DS Lite. The buttons have also changed and relocated somewhat. Finally, the DSi is a little slimmer than the DS Lite, but it is slightly wider.

Unfortunately, with these upgrades there were some downsides. The DSi no longer includes the Gameboy Advance slot. This was to help accomodate the 64Mb of RAM that the DSi is packing. Also, the battery time has been cut down.
Despite these downgrades, I highly reccomend the DSi to anyone who enjoys gaming. But if you have a DS Lite, I suggest you wait it out a little longer before going out and buying the DSi.
At $169.99 US, I feel that the DSi is definitely worth purchasing.

A Reveiw of the Nintendo DSi

Last week I finally purchased a Nintendo DSi. Released on April 4, 2009, the DSi is the newest incredibly addictive handheld device from Nintendo. The DSi part of the third generation of handheld game devices from Nintendo and is the third item in Nintendo's DS line.
The Nintendo DS line features a multitude of games (over 600) that are often quirky, entertaining, and highly addictive. They range from Mario Kart, a silly yet fun racing game, to GTA Chinatown Wars, a violent third person shooting game. With a wide range of titles, its almost hard not to like it.

When Nintendo announced the release of the Nintendo DSi, they had much to live up to in this third version. In my opinion, Nintendo easily fulfilled this.
Now the DSi has a multitude of upgrades that weren't included in the DS Lite. Right off the bat, any Nintendo fans will notice the inclusion of two cameras, one on the outside, and another on the inside. This allows you to take photos of yourself as well as your friends. The i in DSi actually stands for two things. First it is a reference to the two cameras or "eyes" on the DSi. It also reflects the person or "i" that is using the device, symbolizing the coming together of people on the DS. While the cameras will not replace your current camera with a small resolution of 640x480, they allow you to play with and tweak your photos using a number of funny tools and send them to your friends.
Also, the DSi features a sound recorder/player as well. With it, you can record up to 18 10-second clips and mess with them with filters. Additionally, you can also listen to your music and play with it as well using the SD card slot. Unfortunately, the DSi can only play files of the AAC variety, such as mp4, m4a, or 3gp.

Is EA still evil? Pt. 3

Now they are beginning to eradicate some of their older and unethical practices. With the new reign of CEO Riccitiello, they are finally beginning to see positive trends in the workplace towards EA. It has been reported that hours have since been reduced, overtime is being paid, and weekends are being granted. A survey in December of 2007 showed a 13% increase in employee morale, and a 21% jump in management recognition. This is a clear indication that EA is now taking a giant step in the right direction. By eliminating their old unethical practices they are creating a positive and healthy work atmosphere.
Even still, I have to reveiw myself. Should I forgive EA for all the unethical atrocities they have commited and the past? And I also wonder if everyone else should forgive them as well. I wouldn't want to be too quick in my judgement here, but as of now I have lifted my long boycott on EA, in favor of their recent positive trends.
To sum up everything, EA has certainly committed some terrible acts in the past, and those scars will remain for a long time. But as I look towards the future, I see a more positive company that is willing to change.
Man, I have been wanting to play Spore for the longest time.

One such example of a company they bought that was ended was Orgin. Orrgin had produced the game series Ultima. After being purchased, EA immediately sought for them to create Ultima IX: Ascension. Before this, Orgin had just produced Ultima VIII: Pagan. Fans of Ultima cried out against the drastic changes EA had ordered in the new game. Sales slumped for the game quickly, and as a result EA disbanded Orgin as a whole. Such was the circle of life of the company. They produced a successful series only to be bought by a large company and then disbanded

Four years ago I came across an article that blew my mind. On the popular blogging site LiveJournal, one user, ea_spouse, wrote an article that woulld heavily define the Redwood City based Electronic Arts for years to come. (Read the original article here)
