Full Moon Party
November 14th 2008 14:15
As I have said before, Cayman Islands is not exactly the mecca of nightlife, but those that are here sure know how to have a good party within the limited time that the authorities allow (everything closes at 2am here). I just went on a night out with my friends to Calico Jack’s, which is on Seven Mile Beach right on the beach and it truly is the perfect place for a beach party. Every month they have a full moon party, the past few months have been difficult for such a party (weather wise), however today was a glorious day and all the party goers were in full force.
Full moon parties are a place for tourists and expats to hang out and let it all “loose”, so to speak. It’s a once a month thing on the island (hallo… “full moon”). It also got me thinking, what is it about the beach, an island etc that makes people be so friendly, so accommodating and so without incident. I have been all over the world and most places I have been to (even the best party places) always have an incident.
The thing about these full moon parties is that to make it work, you have to have a sponsor - preferably an alcohol sponsor and today Heineken (I think!) was the sponsor. I do believe that they were promoting their new brand - Heinken light. Anyway, the special effects were absolutely superb, especially the way that their brand was reflected on the warm waters of the Cayman (you could actually see what they had to say on the sea). That said, let’s move on…
I have always whinged about the quality of service here on the island, but I must say with attendants such as Paul, Merl, Lynn and Marty you shouldn’t have a problem having your favourite cocktail mixed to perfection. I will, till my dying days (hopefully not too soon…) always recognise that that Calico Jack’s makes me feel good !
