Should You Write A Test Article For A Blog or Web Magazine?

YES!
Many times when you apply for a writing position with a blog or web-zine you'll be asked for writing samples. Sometimes, even after submitting a writing sample, you'll be asked to furnish a "test article" so that the editors/content managers can be sure that your writing style matches the "voice" of their site.
Some newer writers tend to dislike the idea of submitting a new piece of work that they won't be paid for, but it's necessary to keep your eye on the goal. Do you want to land a job that pays you consistently or not?
The small amount of time and energy spent writing an article or blog post for the editors to review will pay off immensely if you are chosen to write a column regularly as a freelance contributor.
Remember, you are a business. You need to invest just like any other business would when starting out. It may take you months or even a year to start earning money that will allow you to live the type of life every freelancer desires, but it will take much longer if you are unwilling to make investments that don't require an immediate pay-out.
I hope this article helps you!
