so here it is... I went door to door 13 years ago and built a sucessful company with a lot of hard work and effort. I believe my best year was close to $800,000.00 in sales.
On June 23'rd 2009 I injured myself at work and thankfully had work comp insurance. I could only see two doctors so I initially saw Dr. Abushariff for approx. one year. He determined from an MRI taken one month after my injury that my low back had a major herniation with nerve root impingement. I received Cortizone injections in my hip and back three times within one year.
Since the pain continued and my business was beginning to suffer he then wrote me a referral to a hip specialist named Doctor Daley. Since work comp rules only allowed me to see two doctors...I decided to do some research because I really needed to get healthy. The pain was changing my life and not in a positive fashion.
My research led me away from Doctor Daley (not because of any fault of him but because of the many perks read about with respect to the The White Sox and Bulls Doctor Charles Bush-Joseph. I was under his care for an additional year having one surgery prior to being told I needed a hip replacement. At that point in time I was told that AVN was the cause of the hip problem and work comp decided to cut all of my benefits because they determined my injury not to be the source of my pain.
So I decided to use my personal insurance and get yet another opinion...this time from Doctor Daley.
Within minutes of seeing Doctor Daley he told me that he did not believe the source of my pain was caused from AVN. I have had lateral left leg pain since the onset of the injury on June 2009. IHe informed me of his prior experience with AVN patients all of which primarliy complained of groan pain.
Groan pain was never my primary complaint therefore I believed his diagnosis to be correct. He referred me to back specialist named Doctor Templin and basically said he believed the source of my pain to be as a direct result of an injury to my back.
Dr. Templin ordered another MRI and determined the herniation to have gotten considerably worse (considering it had been two years since the accident and since the herniation itself)
It is now eight months later and the insurance benefits are still not here. Of course I have an attorney but they continually make excuses as to why I am not receiving benefits. They sent me to one of their doctors named Sherman Hoe and even he agreed that Dr. Bush-Joseph's diagnosis was incorrect. The work comp doctor agreed that my low back was the source of the left lateral leg pain.
And yet no benefits.
For over two years these doctors have been prescribing massive doses of vicodin and even Oxycotin.
You name it... I took it.
So I finally decided to live in Freedom and not Freedumb. I have been in Hawaii for the last three months. I stopped taken the drugs and I started swimming and having massages etc.
I have found the added stresses of not receiving benefits to be harmful to my recovery and will be seeking another attorney for Malpractice.
Exactly how do these athletes have major surgeries and get back on the field within 4-6 months? It has been 31 months for me.
I am still in pain but loving the fact that I was strong enough to come to Hawaii and make the personal choice of FREEDOM and not FREEDUMB.
