Free Cherry Tomato Pincushion Crochet Pattern

Materials:
Small amount red worsted weight yarn
Size H crochet hook
2 medium google eyes
Scrap of white size 10 crochet cotton
Bottom of an artificial rose

Note: Do not join rnds. Mark last st in each rnd w st marker.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Rnd 1: Ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 1, 4 sc in ring (4 sc).

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (8 sc).

Rnd 3: 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc).

Rnd 4: Sc in 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, * sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, * rep from * to * around, sc in last sc (21 sc).

Rnds 5-8: Sc in each sc around (21 sc).

Rnd 9: Sc in 1st 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * sc in next 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * rep from * to * around, sc in last sc (16 sc).

Begin stuffing tomato. Continue stuffing as work progresses.

Rnd 10: Sc in 1st 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * sc in next 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * rep from * to * around (12 sc).

Rnd 11: Sc in 1st 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * sc in next 2 sc, sc dec over next 2 sc, * rep from * to * around (9 sc).

Rnd 12: Sc dec over first 2 sc, * sc dec over next 2 sc, *, rep from * to * around, sc in last sc, join w sl st in 1st sc, fasten off, leaving a 12" length of yarn for sewing (5 sc).

Sew Rnd 12 tightly closed.

Pull the bottom off of an artificial rose. Glue upside-down to top of tomato.

Glue google eyes to tomato as shown.

With size 10 cotton, embroider a tiny straight line for mouth as shown.

Let dry.

Enjoy!

I am glad that you liked my poem. I think people that go out of their way to do nice things for others should be told they are appreciated once in awhile!

I couldn't wait for my husband to get home yesterday so I could tell him about your poem! I was so moved by it!

It gave me the motivation I needed to stay up late last night and finish my next design. I hope to get it up today as a Valentine's gift for everyone!
