Have you ever received an email congratulating you on your lottery win, then providing details on how to receive it?
Perhaps someone’s great uncle has died and left money to them, but the need access to an account out of their country to be able to get the funds.
How about the scams relating to banks - we need to update details, please provide your account.
Or Ebay - again please provide details, update account etc..
Another one is work from home - run your own business, be your own boss.
These scams float around cyber space in their millions. And unfortunately there are also millions of people falling for these scams.
They lose substantial amounts of money, possessions and even their identities!!
Being able to catch these fraudsters is so very difficult as there are no national or international borders, limited or no way of tracing the origin of the email and then if they did find the email it could very well be 'bouncing' off an innocent persons computer anyway.
What can we do?
There are many organisations trying to catch up with these deceptive criminals. It will be easier if there was more community help.
