Formalin Preserved Animals

I do warn in advance that these might not be for everyone. These are older preserved animals and while it sux that these animals died, for me I find them a majestic and beautiful piece of historic art.

Frog in Formalin

In the preservation of animal specimens for study, animals are usually preserved using formalin where the whole body would be immersed in the posture in which it is supposed to stay permanently because it will be hardened.

We are definately related in some way I would think - I had to look up what it was because I was freaking I might be posting a pic of a human in formalin - didn't think it would go down too well

They are just fascinating. The black and white photos give them more depth. Beautiful artistry - all in the field of science. K
