Force Decent Opening Mausam Fails
Force took a decent opening at the box office of around 50%. The collections were strong in Gujarat and Maharashtra area as well as parts of the Eastern circuit like Orissa. It was below the mark in the North. If the film grows on Saturday and Sunday it will have a good weekend.
Hum Tum Aur Shabana opened poorly at around 5-10% and will find it tough going at the box office
Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster was second best after Force with a 20-25% opening. The film has decent reports and collections may well pick up especially in the North.
Tere Mere Phere opened very poorly at 0-5%.
Mausam fell badly after a decent weekend as it collected 28 crore nett in week one. The 8th day has seen a huge drop. FLOP
Speedy Singhs grossed a poor 3.50 crore nett in its first week. FLOP
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan added another 4 crore nett in week three taking its three week business to 57.25 crore nett. HIT
Force Has Below The Mark Weekend
Force is below par over its first weekend as it has grossed around 15 crore nett. The film had a just about decent first day of 4.75 crore nett but was not able to grow over the weekend due to lack of appreciation in many parts of the country.
The film dropped on Saturday when Friday was not huge which is not a good sign for Monday collections. The collections on Sunday were again decent at places.
The fate of Force is dependent on Monday which has to be very steady as its only a six day week with biggie Rascals coming on Friday but going by the drop at key stations on Saturday it looks unlikely that Monday will hold up well.
If Monday does somehow hold up well then Force can go on to be an average runner
Mausam Crashes Badly In Second Weekend
Mausam has had a big crash in collections in its second weekend with business around 2 crore nett. This is a 90% drop from the first weekend.
The second week will just do about 3 crore nett and the film is not likely to touch even 32 crore nett lifetime business. The distributor share will be just 15.50 crore. The North is also very poor with Delhi/UP distributor likely to be just 3.90 crore while East Punjab gives 1.80 crore only.
It is the only disappointment from the major releases at the box office since July along with Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap Aarakshan and Force
Mausam Has Decent Opening Overseas
Mausam had a fair opening of around $1.35 million in Overseas. The opening figures from major markets are as follows
United Kingdom -£188,000
North America - $469,000
UAE - $290,000
Australia - $84,000
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has hit the $3 million mark in overseas while Bodyguard has almost finished its run and stands close to £8 million
