Uk Horse Racing Ist Feb

February 1st 2008 01:58
Wolverhampton 1st Feb
14:05 - Race All The Family To Pontin's Claiming Stakes
Simon Callaghan has made a flying start to his training career and RICH KID, who has run well in both all-weather starts to date, should add to his tally in this opener at the main expense of Shepherds Warning. The latter is chasing a hat-trick after consecutive C& wins but the 3lbs he has to concede to the selection may be crucial. Maybe I Wont is usually thereabouts but may have to settle for a place again.

Top Tip: RICH KID
Watch out for: SHEPHERDS WARNING

15:10 - Race All The Families To Pontin's Handicap
CAPE VELVET showed a nice turn of foot to get off the mark in a C& maiden last month. Now she has learned to settle, there may be more to come from John Hills' filly. Our Kes has a good record around here and can't be ignored, while Machinate also has decent C& form but may find it tough to defy a penalty.

Top Tip: CAPE VELVET
Watch out for: OUR KES

15:45 - Have A Blast At Pontin's Maiden Stakes
TENJACK KING hasn't raced since finishing third over a slightly shorter trip here last September but was not beaten far and is taken to make a winning reappearance. Ginger Minx ran green on her introduction here in December and should have improved for the experience, while Saviour Sand makes most appeal of the remainder.

Top Tip: TENJACK KING
Watch out for: GINGER MINX

16:15 - Call Pontin's Now 0844 576 5938 Handicap
Vigano may improve for the first-time visor and Firewalker has gone close on a couple of occasions this winter. However, THE LITTLE FIZZER probably has more scope than her rivals and wasn't beaten far on her handicap debut at Kempton last month, despite still showing signs of inexperience. She gets the vote.

Top Tip: THE LITTLE FIZZER
Watch out for: VIGANO

16:50 - Croc Makes Pontin's Half Term Rock Handicap
Cape Of Storms is proving frustrating to follow and the switch back to polytrack may not be in his favour, while Savile's Delight is in good form but has shot back up the weights as a result. MAIDEN INVESTOR looked to be on the way back when third at Kempton last month, however, and should go close here off a 1lb lower mark.

Top Tip: MAIDEN INVESTOR
Watch out for: CAPE OF STORMS

17:20 - wolverhampton-racecourse.co.uk Amateur Riders' Handicap
Turner's Touch has an absence to overcome but his yard have been firing in the winners of late, while Marie King won on They All Laughed at Newmarket last summer and he's another to consider. Resplendent Ace and ROLLING 'N TUMBLIN both come here on the back of recent wins at Kempton but the latter probably has more scope and today's extra furlong should be of benefit.

Top Tip: ROLLIN 'N TUMBLIN
Watch out for: TURNER'S TOUCH

Caterick 1st Feb

13:10 - Dinsdale Conditional Jockeys' Selling Hurdle
Evan Williams' AXINIT tired in the closing stages when second over an extended 2m 4f at Leicester earlier this month and, with this drop in trip likely to suit, he receives the vote regain the winning thread. Northaw Lad could go close if none the worse for a long lay-off, while Tirol Livit is another that cannot be easily dismissed.

Top Tip: AXINIT
Watch out for: NORTHAW LAD

13:40 - Buy Your 2008 Yorkshire Racing Season Ticket Novices' Chase
KING DANIEL has got closer to the target with each of his three runs over fences to date and, after getting narrowly touched off at Musselburgh earlier this month, he receives the nod to go one better here. Overlut is entitled to give a good account if feeling no ill-effects from his mishap at Newbury, while Shouldhavehadthat is another that warrants respect.

Top Tip: KING DANIEL
Watch out for: OVERLUT

14:15 - Marne Handicap Chase
TRADING TROUBLE has less on his plate than when well beaten at Perth back in June and, providing that he is back to his best on his return to action, he could prove far too strong for these rivals. Flake faces an easier task than he did at Doncaster last Saturday and rates the biggest threat, with the Mick Easterby-trained Spring Margot also holding place claims.

Top Tip: TRADING TROUBLE
Watch out for: FLAKE

14:50 - Go Racing At Wetherby Tomorrow Handicap Hurdle
SINGHALONGTASVEER stayed on strongly when landing the spoils over 2m 3f here last month and is fancied to relish this longer trip, so he is taken to defy a 7lb hike in the weights. Willie The Fish arrives here on the back of a gutsy C& success and is unlikely to go down without a fight, while Tell Henry is another worthy of consideration.

Top Tip: SINGHALONGTASVEER
Watch out for: WILLIE THE FISH

15:20 - E.B.F. 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle
STARTING POINT has looked more than useful in his two winning hurdle starts to date and is expected to prove head and shoulders above today's rivals. He is sure to be suited by jumping a fence in time but there should be more winning days ahead over hurdles in the meantime and he can account for Rightway Star and the hurdling debutant Cool Operator.

Top Tip: STARTING POINT
Watch out for: RIGHTWAY STAR

15:55 - Buy Your 2008 Annual Badge Today Juvenile Novices' Hurdle
GOLDEN DAGGER, a decent performer on the Flat, came in for a fair amount of support when making an encouraging debut over hurdles at Wetherby in November. There should be improvement to come from her and she is taken to open her National Hunt account at the second time of asking. Rich Lord has been knocking on the door of late and is entitled to take a hand in the finish again, as is Musselburgh runner-up First Buddy.

Top Tip: GOLDEN DAGGER
Watch out for: RICH LORD

16:25 - Stockton Standard Open NH Flat Race
EVELITH REGENT shaped with plenty of promise when third at Market Rasen in September and is taken to put the benefit of that experience to good use, thereby enhancing his trainer's fine record in this type of event. Overthrow went into a few notebooks when making a winning debut at Fakenham back in April and warrants the utmost respect on his return to action, while there should be more to come from Faith And Fortune who ran well enough on his racecourse bow.

Top Tip: EVELITH REGENT
Watch out for: OVERTHROW

Chepstow 1st Feb

13:20 - E.B.F. 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle
MILAN DEUX MILLE was far from disgraced when finishing fifth at Cheltenham earlier this month and, with a slightly easier task ahead of him today, he could prove a cut above these rivals. Forest Pennant has finished in the frame on both starts over hurdles and is likely to go close again, while Wind Instrument is another that warrants respect.

Top Tip: MILAN DEUX MILLE
Watch out for: FOREST PENNANT

13:50 - Jenkinsons Caterers Welcomes You To Chepstow Handicap Chase
DOUBLE LAW finished behind two useful sorts at Fontwell last Thursday and, due to go up 9lb in the ratings after this, he looks capable of getting off the mark. Master D'Or remains in good form and could give the selection most to think about, while Another Native is worthy of consideration.

Top Tip: DOUBLE LAW
Watch out for: MASTER D'OR

14:25 - Weatherbys Bloodstock Services Handicap Hurdle
There should be more in the locker from JUST AMAZING who knuckled down well to make a winning debut over hurdles at Exeter in November. Paul Nicholls' charge can follow up at the chief expense of Folkestone heavy ground winner Stradbrook with Shoudawoudacouda making most appeal of the remainder.

Top Tip: JUST AMAZING
Watch out for: STRADBROOK

15:00 - Weatherbys Bank Novices' Chase
ROYALS DARLING producing a sound round of jumping to make a winning chasing debut at Kempton last month and he is fancied to follow-up. Predateur would be an obvious danger if feeling no ill-effects from yesterday's exertions at Wincanton with Presenting Copper making most appeal of the remainder.

Top Tip: ROYALS DARLING
Watch out for: PREDATEUR

15:30 - Jenkinsons Caterers For Hospitality Novices' Hurdle
QUARTANO was thrown in at the deep end on his hurdling bow in Grade 1 company and should have much more to offer at this level. He is taken to get the better of the French import Super Formen with Isn't That Lucky and Andrew Nick making most appeal of the remainder.

Top Tip: QUARTANO
Watch out for: SUPER FORMEN

16:05 - Jenkinsons Caterers 1st Choice For Conferences Handicap Chs
LAZY BUT LIVELY was a beaten favourite at Uttoxeter last time but, in what looks a slightly less taxing assignment today, he can regain the winning thread. Despite a 7lb penalty, recent winner Phareight Dei is worthy of a place on the short-list, while Time Bandit shouldn't be given up on just yet.

Top Tip: LAZY BUT LIVELY
Watch out for: PHAREIGHT DEI

16:40 - Doncaster Bloodstock/EBF Mares' Standard Open NH Flat Race
Strong market vibes behind the David Pipe-trained debutante Shali San would be of interest but the one who appeals most is SOUTHERN EXIT. Having shaped with promise last term, the selection made a pleasing reappearance when only finding one too good at Huntington last time and she can open her account here. Definitely It rates next best.

Top Tip: SOUTHERN EXIT
Watch out for: SHALI SAN

Kempton 1st Feb

18:20 - Turftv Claiming Stakes
Ask Jenny has plenty to find at these weights and this looks to lie between Compton Classic and GRIMES FAITH. The former obliged on his last start in this grade and warrants respect, but the selection arrives here on the back of a success at Southwell on Tuesday and gets the vote with in-form Chris Catlin continuing the partnership.

Top Tip: GRIMES FAITH
Watch out for: COMPTON CLASSIC

18:50 - Racing UK Handicap
Ex-Irish LOUGH BEG made it two from two on these shores when landing his second consecutive C& success last Friday and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to prevent him from completing a hat trick. Bottom-weight Classic Blue has been knocking on the door lately and could be the one for the forecast, while Paul Blockley has his string in fine shape at present and Istead Rise, well held in three maidens, might have more to offer now sent handicapping.

Top Tip: LOUGH BEG
Watch out for: CLASSIC BLUE

19:20 - kempton.co.uk Claiming Stakes
This appears to be at the mercy of CHAMPAGNE SHADOW. Jeff Pearce's charge impressed when landing the odds in a 1m6f seller at Wolverhampton last time and connections appear to have found him an ideal opportunity to follow up. Critical Stage seems most likely to follow him home at tonight's weights, but Smokey The Bear was not disgraced when a close third to a 'good thing' in a 1m2f claimer here latest and might pip him for the silver medal.

Top Tip: CHAMPAGNE SHADOW
Watch out for: SMOKEY THE BEAR

19:50 - Kempton For Outdoor Pursuits On 01932 782292 Handicap
Golden Square obliged on his latest start in the handicap ranks but he finished well beaten in an ordinary race last time and ROYAL AMNESTY gets the tentative vote as he hasn't been disgraced recently and has dropped to an attractive mark. Postmaster and Micky Mac are others to consider in a tricky contest.

Top Tip: ROYAL AMNESTY
Watch out for: MICKY MAC

20:20 - Follow Your Meeting With Floodlit Racing Fillies' Handicap
Ex-French Bassinet can call upon the assistance of in-form Kirsty Milczarek for her first start on these shores and should be monitored in the betting ring. The safest bet, however, is NEARDOWN BEAUTY who completed a double at Southwell latest and might be worth following until her winning run comes to an end. Confidentiality looks sure to run her race and can earn the silver medal.

Top Tip: NEARDOWN BEAUTY
Watch out for: CONFIDENTIALITY

20:50 - Racinguk.tv Handicap
MUSICAL SCRIPT continues to run well in defeat and, while it's frustrating that he is without a success for over a year, his recent second indicated his turn was near. Nell's Girl has some fair form to her credit in Ireland and would have chances if taking to an artificial surface, but Reigning Monarch had the form of his latest win boosted when the runner-up went on to land a similar event here earlier in the month and may emerge as the main threat.

Top Tip: MUSICAL SCRIPT
Watch out for: REIGNING MONARCH

21:20 - Panoramic Bar & Restaurant Loyalty Scheme Classified Stakes
POLISH PRIZE hung under pressure at Wolverhampton 12 days ago but that did not stop him recording a determined success and he promises to be better suited going right-handed. Stargazy appreciated the step up to this trip when coming clear for a fluent success at Wolverhampton and could prove a bit better than his current mark, while Lawdy Miss Clawdy has done all her racing over sprint distances and needs to improve for this longer trip.

Top Tip: POLISH PRIZE
Watch out for: STARGAZY
