Fly The Friendly Skies...while you can!

If you were to look at the top airlines and rank them, United would be last. By its second quarter rating it had about a little over a year before it died...literally! The airline before United due to be doomed was US Airways with a little over 2 years of life. It seems US Airways has been doing better than United in its attempt to stay afloat and beat the death watch.
US Airways and United are potential merger partners, but there are unresolved issues between the two of them. I thought US Airways had a bad CEO, Doug Parker, according to employees, customers and even stockholders, but United is, well, doomed according to their employees.
At United it is so bad that there is a link to have the CEO ousted. The extremely very informative blog gives you links to why United and US Airways are doomed. They have big losses.
I hate seeing any airline fold because the lost jobs and blow to the economy may be staggering. The effect may vary by location but the impact on the economy is astounding.
But figures tend to lie. Losses may be a deception because the fuel prices were close to $4 in the last quarter. Now fuel has come down(but be forewarned that it will rise because of cuts in production by OPEC soon) and profits may be a bit better. Figures can seem like a positive, for example, when they claim lost luggage complaints are down. If there are less flights and less people flying, it goes without saying, well, do the math!
Either way you look at it, though, the airline industry as a whole is really in jeopardy, with the new changes and demographics. I believe it will weather the storm and fly high in the future...whenever that is!
