Flowers and Women
June 7th 2007 07:08
So, I received a huge bouquet of flowers delivered to the office today... with no note from whom they're from and why. Hmmm... I should probably know who the sender is but he could've at least said something too? Anyways, my point here is... women and flowers are a conflicting subject. At least on my standpoint, I love to receive flowers and surprises but at the same time, they only last for so long. And we all know how pricey they can be too. Which is kind of a waste when you watch them wilter and die. Women, being the more sensitive yet intellectual species, reckon that the money should rather be put to better use. Like a nice dinner, or the dress that she has been eyeing on or even accessories for her MacBook.
I suppose, it's more of an emotional affair. Flowers are sent to signify an "I'm Thinking Of You" or "Just Because" or "I Miss You" but the best reason to give women flowers is for no reason at all. When you buy her that bouquet because you made a boo-boo, although the gesture is nice, it's clear that it's a mercy plea or forgiveness.
On the other hand, if you stop by that local flower shop and buy her a dozen roses just because you want her to know that she is constantly on your mind, she'll feel beautiful, appreciated, and adored. Every woman loves to receive flowers but, even more than receiving them, women love to be surprised.
Dinners, gadgets and accessories don't quite say it like flowers do. It's just the splash of bright colours created by nature and the lingering sweet, soft scents of the flowers which just perks up the endorphins and makes you smile. Makes the rest of your day seem less of a bother.
Alas, I still can't quite help but hold a slither of resentment that the money could've gotten me that dress. But the flowers are pretty and makes me look good. You can't have it all. I supose I could get the dress on my own this weekend. Not all is lost. Infact, more is gained with a thoughtful man present in my life and the very kind gesture that spoke louder than words and the bouquet itself...
