If this were your kid, what would you do?

Recently there has been a lot of talk around these parts regarding boyfriends and whether they should be allowed to stay over or not at the parents house - and if they do where do they sleep?

When I was younger the rule around our house was simple - boys, whether they be friends or boyfriends, are not allowed down the passage except for the use of the toilet. They don`t stay over - they have their own houses to sleep in. That`s it

Broken planes, sleep deprivation and rambling to stay awake!

As the minute has just ticked over so it marks the 40th straight hour that I have been awake. Straight… no dozing, no 40 winks, no 5 minute shut eye…. NO SLEEP!!!! My senses are tingling and speech slurring like I have had several wines too many and dancing sparks are fireworking their way across my eyes. At last we are home and what a past 4 days we have had. I`m trying to stay awake for at least a couple more hours so that I can crash totally for the night… and sleep in a deliciously cosy bed which I haven`t done for 2 weeks.

It all started on Friday coming down through Arthurs Pass. This is the highest town in New Zealand, and let me tell you the road leading up to and down from it is pretty scary. But I`m a casual kinda girl, I have just driven 2500km around the island, this is easy right? Um…. Imagine looking down at a narrow, one way bridge crossing a deep ravine which is sliced by a meandering trickle of water on its rocky riverbed far below. Imagine coming down the road, which now starts to narrow as it comes closer to the bridge and even though you have right of way two campers are already crossing so you start to slow down to let them pass

From the drivers seat of the big red bus

Well we have been on the road for a week today and what a week it has been. I still can`t get the pictures onto the computer - man I wish I could because I want to see them in all their glory myself! I have started to run out of space on the momory cards so have to be a bit more selective of what I photograph - yeah that`s like telling someone not to breathe!

Milford Sound is the most beautiful place on this earth - I have declared it so and if you hav`nt been well get the credit card out and book to go.... NOW! Driving between massive mountains that cascade into one another and form long, parallel lines on either side, your eyes don`t know which way to look. From everywhere waterfalls crash down and seem to disappear into the ground, suddenly appearing along the roadside in a stream of the clearest, freshest looking water - even more so than your tap water at home
