Flashes of memories - June 2007

What do you like to do on a winter`s evening?

Well, winter is finally here.... for me it has been a long two year wait after having dodged the chilly cold fingers of my favourite season whilst I skipped around the world. And here it is at last. Coupled with that we have been fortunate enough to have rain mixed in with it all too. There is something slightly mystical about a clear, crisp morning. Waking up early when the world is still asleep, snuggling under the covers and then slowly emerging like a new butterfly ... every day! Is there anything as magical?

Your favourite item of clothing

Over the years I have paid out a small fortune in clothing. As I hop, skip and jump my way around the world so I manage to leave almost an entire wardrobe of clothes everywhere (sorry for you all who have my stuff.... I will be there to collect it soon

This is what I love!

So my previous post about Africa says it all - there is just something hypnotic about the place. The more that I think about it the more that I think it is the wild that is drawing me - those wide open spaces, the fact that your reflexes and your instincts are probably your best friends and the animals ... oh the animals! (that is one big ass exclamation mark there!)

The recent movie 'Blood Diamond' says a lot about Africa. It is a place where corruption rules, where it`s not what you know but who you know

Moving back to Afric-ahhhhh?

As I contemplate a move back to Afric-aahhh and try to get papers sorted out for passports and such I find myself comparing how totally different everything is here. For one thing the money has value... you do not live in a country where your Minister of Foreign Affairs goes overseas and is quoted along these lines:
Reporter: 'If there is no foreign currency in the country how do you manage to get it to spend when you come overseas?'
Minister: 'No, we don`t spend foreign currency, we spend travellers cheques!' ~rolls eyes~
