Five Reasons Why You Should Write Your Novel This Year
December 18th 2008 05:36
1. You have a story to tell. If you die today, that story will die with you.
Think of your favorite book. Recall how it changed your life.
In "Still Me", Christopher Reeve let people know there was life after paralysis. What if that book had never been written?
Christopher Reeve proved to the world he was Superman on wheels. He gave people hope. He gave people life. He did it in three hundred nine pages.
2. You have a unique way to tell it. That is called your style.
Read this excerpt from Cormac McCarthy's "The Road".
Notice his rule-bending style.
When you write your novel, you wiill find the right words to say the right things.
Your style will shine through.
3. You'll be one of the elite.
Only eighteen-point-two percent of writers crossed the NaNoWriMo finish line this year.
Will you complete your novel and break the yellow tape?
4. You have a whole year to do it! If you start your novel now, you can be editing it by the time the next NaNoWriMo rolls around!
5. You're tired of seeing books on the shelves without your byline.
Readers want well-crafted stories. You know in your heart you can write one...you just have to convince your hand!

Great post
you've given me both motivation and inspiration to write that book next year (though it is more of a how to manual for new dads than a novel)
Thanks for the lovely post you left on my
