Finishing off Breep

“
Maria Catalia had made her plans with her Cousin Joey’s men. They were scattering all around the town, going to the Comedy Club and picking up Mudder-like-no-Udder and Nurse_Molly, the broad brought in to do the analysis on all the evidence, and she didn’t want that report getting around. So while her guys were picking those two up, and making sure they would never talk again, she was heading for the Janitor’s house. She had heard the conversation Mudder and that Nurse had had, they shouldn’t use intercept-able cell phones, modern technology can work two ways, she thought, and the Families always kept up with technology and ways to use, bypass and otherwise keep track of it. When she heard that the boys had picked those two up, she smiled that secret and cunning smile that only she was capable of, the one that said people go missing all the time.
Now, the janitor. Tank and Guido would lead the way up the stairs and get him, while she searched for Juan. Just as the car pulled up at the old brownstone type house where the janitor lived she saw a flash of a red head heading down the side street, full out running, and realized she’d just seen Juan Breep heading out, good.
“OK boys, out you get, go get the janitor, you know what to do with him, leave him alive but be sure he never talks or repeats his actions again. I don’t want him coming back to haunt me, or Cousin Joey. Oh, hell, forget that, the river and the lake are close, use them. Whose going to miss one crazy old janitor anyway, let him play with Mudder and that Nurse all he wants, see how well he swims with cement fins on his feet and hands. Be sure to let me know when you have secured him, and eradicate any evidence that Juan Breep was at his apartment.”
So she dropped the boys off at the janitor's, and headed down the street after the comedian.
He was hot footing it down the street, barefooted, in coveralls about four sizes too big for him, and they appeared to be filthy. Maria, slowed down, next to him, pushed the button and lowered the window.
“Need a ride?”
She stopped the car next to him and he hopped in, anything was better than running through this neighborhood of Detroit.
“Hey, aren’t you Juan Breep, the comedian? Wow, what’s that stink? Oh, I see, a small accident maybe?”
Juan looked at himself, and at her, thinking he might be right back in the trouble he’d just gotten out of... but he did stink and he was filthy and he needed any help he could get.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you, matter of fact I’m taking you to a place where you can get cleaned up, get some good clothes, then I’m going to be sure you get to your club date in Indy safe, sound and rested.”
She smiled like the cat who just got all the cream left in the house and was full and replete. Juan was still looking at her nervously but didn’t say anything, thinking if she was crazy he’d figure out a way to get away from her too, but being clean, with decent clothes was a great idea. They pulled up to one of those big places on Lake St. Claire, gated, and all, and the gate slid open, she waved at the guys standing near it and drove to one of the biggest houses Juan had ever seen.
This place belongs to my Uncle, you don’t need to know his name, yet, just be assured you’re safe here.”
As she escorted him into the house, he noticed a lot of strangely silent men, staring at him, and some looking and nodding at her, what had he just gotten into?
“This is Paulie, he’ll take you upstairs and get you settled. Lunch will be in about two hours so get cleaned up, rest for a while and he’ll come back and lead you to the dining room.”
And off she went, high heels clicking on the marble floor, hips swaying, if he didn’t have R at home waiting for him he would have been tempted. But he followed Paulie upstairs to one of the most palatial suites he’d ever seen, “Wow,” he thought, “this is living, but what’s going on and how the hell do I get out of here if things turn kinky like they did with that janitor?”
Paulie showed him the bathroom and where clothes were, they all looked about the right size but they were sure different than he was used to, no ripped jeans, no comfy shirts, more business casual.
After getting cleaned up, he laid down on the bed for a short nap, he was beat, he felt like he hadn’t had any rest for a year. Wow, this had been a club date he hoped he would forget but was afraid he never would.
He must have fallen asleep because next he knew Paulie was shaking him awake, and telling him it was lunch time. He got up and followed, he was hungry as a tick on a hound dog. When he got downstairs and into the dining room he saw that the lady had been joined by an older man, who looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t figure out why. She indicated the chair to the old man’s left and he sat.
“This is my Uncle. Uncle Willie, this is Juan Breep the comedian I told you about, Juan this is my Uncle, hum, Mr. Smith. He’s your host for the day. Later tonight we’ll be using his plane to fly you to Indianapolis and your gig there. Meanwhile be welcome and make yourself comfortable. The people who were chasing you, and those broads who kidnapped you are not going to be able to get in here and bother you.”
After the introduction, a huge lunch was brought in, a great antipasto, manicotti, bread, Italian sausage to go with the manicotti, and more dishes he couldn’t name. But he ate everything, it was great... as he was finishing his third helping of manicotti, she smiled at him sweetly and ...
“Now Juan, I know you have had a rough time, and we, my family and I, are going to be sure it never happens again. We’re going to protect you, and all it’s going to cost you is you signature on this contract, naming me your personal agent, with the usual percentage. Yeah, I know you have an agent, but he’s been taken ill. Don’t worry, I’m a good agent and with my family’s contacts you will be one of the biggest stars in a very short time. I don’t want you to think you are being forced into this but, just think what a family the size of mine can do to help, or unfortunately, hinder your career, if you decide that you don’t want to sign with me. Oh, and think about this, your lady R, she’ll have all the protection she needs too, she’ll be watched after real well when you aren’t home. Heck we can even extend the protection to the rest of your family in Tick Valley. And all for just your signature on this little old contract.”
Juan looked at Maria and her Uncle and realized where he’d seen that face before, and at the same time realized that his choices were limited. Limited to signing the contract or having his life would be finished. This type of family was not the type you said no to, and he had R and his family to think about. Then again, this was a good looking broad, and the contract would help him get ahead a whole lot faster, and maybe instead of getting small roles in movies, they’d help him get bigger ones, maybe even a starring role. Juan smiled and reached for the pen, yeah he’d sign, after all the life of a comic was a tough one and a family behind you could help. Besides he could get a lot of material out of being part of a “Big Family” and being connected with such a famous one. Sinatra did it, why couldn’t he?

This is just a little something I'd whipped up with a couple of friends in the past, the reasons are obscure, but what the heck. I enjoyed writing it. The names have been changed to protect the guilty or innocent and besides it's all fiction.
