Look

Ok, so this movie has been out for a while. But still I think it warrants a looking at! Get it? Looking... at. But puns aside...
The movie Look, written and directed by Adam Rifkin at first glance looked like a full on documentary about the state of our world and the Big Brother theory. I thought, "Great! I love doco's that look at this sort of theme of the public sphere and how surveillance impacts on our world.
Then I played it... IT"S A MOCKUMENTARY!!!! But I thought, hell I paid money for this thing, lets at least watch it. And by god, was I impressed! Sure, it's not actually real footage, but I couldn't help but stay and watch it. It asks some very serious questions of the viewer, and tells us that the average American person is viewed on surveillance footage 200 times a day! YES!! 200!
Although I'm not American, and have no great idea as to how many camera's are recording people in America, I still find that statistic insane! Not wanting to reveal too much as I'm sure there are people out there who have not seen it, all I will say is that this film will take you in several directions, and is not to be watched in vein.
Whether you are after a riveting film, or something that really gets your mind working, this film will sufficiently do both. But be warned, after you watch this film, you may feel like you will never be alone in public ever again.
This film gave me a whole new view on how many cameras I could actually spot out in my town, sure I had to look hard sometimes, but they are there! Oh and if you see a camera, give it a smile! Or do something random like dancing to the beat of Can't touch this, or something along those lines. The security guys need a good laugh!
