Fact: Potato Chips
January 21st 2007 07:02
The potato chip has an interesting history. Potato chips originated at the Moon Lake Lodge in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1853 and were known as Saratoga chips. George Crum, a Native American chef working at the Moon Lake Lodge, became frustrated with a diner who kept sending back the French fries complaining they were too thick. To get back at the diner, Crum decided to slice the fries extremely thin and fry them crisp so that the diner could not use a fork to eat them. The plan backfired when the diner thought they were the best thing he had ever tasted. Other diners began to request the new snack, and the popularity of potato chips has continued ever since. Potato chips have become America's favorite snack food.

Those potatoe chips are the cause of obesity in the USA, in plague proportions, as it is fast becoming in Australia.

Taking them lightly is nice for a munch but do look out for the waist line. If you give me chocolate and chips, I'd rather pick chocolate.
katyzzz,
I believe chips are causing many teenagers obesity here in Kuala Lumpur too. Nowadays I see either the kids are overly skinny like waving bamboos or big round ones whomping around. There isn't enough balance for the teens and slimming programs becomes a hit when they turn to adulthood.
Thank you so much for dropping by and posting your priceless comments. ^_^
Have a blessed week ahead

I too have not taken fast food for ages, only if there isn't any food left in the fridge at late nights I'd pop by at the 24 hours McD. Thank God I don't have to do that often.

...you wicked thing... to flaunt this picture in front of me.
I had forgotten about them completely until I saw this picture... I have overcome my addiction again until now... Oh I am so weak now *l-ing ol, loudly*
But seriously, how I adore Potato Chips. How I crave them and desire to eat them all the time - when I remember them.
I think there should be a potato patch, although I've taken to lickin' sea salt instead every now and again, seems to work well. Less fattening too...
