This is the standard list of words used to identify letters of the alphabet unambiguously in police and maritime communications, air traffic control, and military contexts.
It is also called the NATO alphabet, named after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which standardized it. A - Alpha, B - Bravo, C - Charlie, D - Delta, E - Echo, F - Foxtrot, G - Golf, H - Hotel, I - India, J - Juliet, K - Kilo, L - Lima, M - Mike, N - November, O - Oscar, P - Papa, Q - Quebec, R - Romeo, S - Sierra, T - Tango, U - Uniform, V - Victor, W - Whisky, X - X-ray, Y - Yankee, Z - Zulu.

I remembered when I first tried to set up a telephone like at the student house in Toowoomba I was actually using phonetic alphabets to spell my name. And the operator actually responded the same. LOL...
