Evony RTS Online Gaming

This discussion around new online game Evony seems to be whether it's really an RTS style game of a complete MMORPG?
But the answer lies in the actual gamer. Some new comers to Evony (prevoiusly called Civony) will play the free online web seutp in a more role playing type scenario. It does rely on a lot of others to do the same, but it's not 100% foolproof.
Where as standard gamers will hit the action, build up and simply attack and use resources in the game - pushing it into the RTS or Real Time Strategy style format.
Regardless, new user uptake to Evony remains very strong, it now stands at 24,000 in terms of website rankings on the Alexa database.
The final hurdle for game developers remains the lag that creeps into the ever growing Evony server base. This may frustrate users, similar to the early days of World of Warcraft, where server lag frustrated the life out of players.
