Everybody Gets Twitterpated in the Springtime
April 8th 2008 04:46
One of my favorite experiences of all time is being "twitterpated". This word was an invention in the original Bambi movie of 1942, in which Friend Owl says, “Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime.” When the film first came out, the Oakland Tribune remarked that “‘Twitterpated’ is perhaps the best adjective coined by Hollywood” See for yourself
Twitterpated is defined perfectly by one contirbuter to Urban dictionary as
An enjoyable disorder characterized by feelings of excitement, anticipation, high hopes, recent memories of interludes, giddiness, and physical overstimulation which occur simultaneously when experiencing a new love. These feelings take over without warning, usually at odd times (such as at a check-out line), with or without the partner present, and make it difficult to concentrate on anything but romance. They interfere with work and safe driving, but should be experienced at least once in every person's lifetime.
Tonight I was thinking about times when I have been twitterpated... That perfect combination of hopefulness and attraction. I went to see the movie Leatherheads Link to Movie Trailer with a friend and I was embarrassingly twitterpated by the fine specimen of middle aged manhood George Clooney. I was really impressed by his debonair demeanor and snappy conversationalist. Damn... he is just cool. A man's man... women swoon while men want to go get a beer with him. (Enough of that....)
I love being twitterpated because in my estimation it is so much "lighter"than passion. Passion is like drinking a double shot of strong whiskey brewed by my Uncle Hank in his Kentucky still; it burns my throat and stomach, and numbs my mind while twitterpation is more like a Mimosa brewed in morning with brunch...while the day is early and bright and full of possibility
So friends have any of you been twitterpated?
PS to all of my techy friends and Twitter devotees ...(and you know who are) I am sure you are now sufficiently disappointed.
