Even in Blackouts

This band deserves to be bigger than they are, just for sheer showmanship.
I checked out their show last night in Portland, Oregon, on the recommendation of a friend, who played me some of their songs when he was visiting. God bless, iPods. Anyhoo, Even in Blackouts (EIB) is doing a whirlwind tour of the US, and this was their first time in Portland.
Granted, I am a bit new to this town, so I cannot say what most crowds are like, and after last nights show, I still can't say what most crowds are like. I was one of maybe twenty people in the audience, which is entirely too bad. EIB is loud enough for a crowd many, many, many times that size.
The show was great, and I had a fun time watching two jackasses bumble around, drop their PBR's and make fools of themselves, before Jackass #1 requested a song that the band no longer plays. When they explained that to him, he actually gave them a hard time about it, and then stormed off in a pout. He returned shortly thereafter, retrieved his jacket from some dark corner, and left. His friend did the same, after ten minutes of drunkenly standing there and then finally realizing the friend had left him there alone. Jackass #2 came back in for a non-existent jacket, and then left again. Other than the comic relief, I was not sad to see them go.
But back to EIB...I know that they are headed to Seattle tonight, and I wish them luck and a bigger, better crowd. I think maybe four of us were even moving our heads a little to the beat last night.
I really hope Portland is more than lame ducks and jackasses...hmm, that sounds like the Republican Party at the moment.
