A Meaningful Life
January 2nd 2007 02:17
Is there any meaning to life or is the meaning of life what we make it? At times I ponder this question even though I know I won’t find the answer just sitting there thinking about it. I don’t even think I’ll find the answer if I try. The only way I think anyone could possibly find the answer to that question is to just live and let it come to you. When you try to look for an answer or solution to a question that abstract you are bound to see them everywhere- even if they are wrong.
Generally speaking, if a person looks for something to hard for too long their journey will either end up in disappointment or they will find an answer merely because people tend to see what they want to see. The question of the meaning to life is one no one will ever be able to find an answer that fits each and every person in this world or even a small portion of it. I believe the answer to this question must be answered by each and every one of us individually. We can’t depend on others to answer it for us since no one’s life and their experiences throughout it are the same.
The closest thing to an answer I have is to just do what makes you happy. What makes you happy may be helping someone else, finding that one person you can spend the rest of your life with, being able to wake up each morning and look forward to going to work, and the list goes on. To others the meaning of life may seem to be experiencing all they can- good or bad. Yet to another it may be success. There is one question remains after ‘discovering’ any of the answers. Are the things you are doing to make you and your life ‘meaningful’ really worth it?
