Lesson plan 29

Lesson Date: 2nd to 6th Nov Name of the teacher: Andrew
Grade: one Class: 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b
Words: ‘head’, ‘hair’, ‘mouth’, ‘nose’, ‘ear’, ‘shoulder’, ‘hand’, ‘toes’, ‘legs’, ‘listen’
Sentences: “Does it/ he/ she have ….?”, “Yes, it/ he/ she does.”, “listen!”, “draw a line”, “what am I doing?”, “I am …..”,
Games or Songs:
Song- ‘open your mouth’ from my own audio VCD

Activity- ‘know your body parts’: The teacher to draw the body of a human on the blackboard (just the stomach and chest, no shoulders/ head, legs/ arms). Now, get a student one at a time to add a body part that you say, as well as writing what it is, next to it.

Game- ‘Face race’: Two teams. Girls versus boys. Match up parts with a number ie 1=eyes, 2=nose, 3=mouth, 4=ears, 5=hair, 6=shoulders. Now draw the head with the neck on the board. Ask one boy and one girl to come to the front. Each of them to roll a die (dice), what ever number is rolled that student gets to add that part (draw it on the blackboard). If the number is already rolled, it is tough luck. The first team with all 6 parts drawn, wins.

Words: ‘big’, ‘little’, ‘short’, ‘long’, ‘orange’, ‘purple’, ‘yellow’, ‘brown’
Sentences: “It is long”, “It is short”, “It is little”, “It is big”, “Stand up!”, “make a line”
Games or Songs:
Song- ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ from my audio CD which has video.

Activity- To arrange themselves after ‘making a line’ from the little student to the big student, basically little to big.

Game- Limbo: To get a stick of some kind and play limbo. Two people hold the stick. The students need to bend and go under the stick with out their hands touching the ground or falling over, if they do they are out. The last one wins

Sentences: “How many ……?”, “I have …..”, “It has …….”, “Write your name?”, “Hand in your paper”, “What am I doing?”
Games or Songs:
Song- ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ from my audio CD which has video.

Activity- Colouring and drawing- To hand out a piece of paper, get them to write their name up the top of the paper, then ask them to draw a circle in the middle of the page, then give their paper to the student on their left, once the students have the paper from the right, they need to draw two ears, then again pass paper to their left, once they have the paper from their right, they need to draw two eyes, and again pass the paper to their left and so on. This will eventually lead to me explaining the elicit sentence ‘hand in your paper’
