Women have assets??
October 2nd 2009 06:57
Hi there,
So what am I talking about? Women have assets, what assets? Well let’s start with the opposite sex to demonstrate my point. Men - they are so busy being themselves and enjoy life at times they just don't have the energy or time for negative body image. They don't over analyse or get obsessed with their body parts. Frankly they don't care much about their body until they have to go buy a shirt or pants... even then it’s all ok. For them, a beer belly is considered as an achievement to their manhood until they are told their cholesterol level is too high or some thing unhealthy related, as told by their doctor.
So back to us women, why is it that we are so hung up on our body and self image. How is that we are programmed to dislike, in some cases loathe, our body parts when we actually have so much more to offer.
Yes, I'm not being silly or high on some drugs. I'm being as objective as I can be without being rude. We have BOOBS and BUMS, let me spell it out again B-O-O-B-S and B-U-M-S. Whether we have too little or too much or somewhere in between, we have it and it is what makes us sexy, alluring, gorgeous and ultimately womanly and stylish.
We women need to accept that our body is more than just our temple, our body is the one thing that carries our soul and enable us to do things daily and achieve our life dreams. We need to be easier on our body parts and focus on the reason why we are unique not what others have. Even if you perceive your bum to be gigantic, your boobs are saggy or your nose is too big. Put them on someone else, that might be the case but on you these are important characteristics that make you beautiful - that is right BEAUTIFUL - you just haven't realised it up until now. Perhaps you carry your own invisible reverse beer goggle where instead of seeing the gorgeous body parts, as your friends and family do, you're seeing something complete distorted and it is damaging your self-esteem and happiness.
I can only continue on this path with some invaluable advice that I hope you will implement as soon as possible. Try it and let me know your thoughts!
1. Every morning wake up with a smile on your face. Before you get ready for work or play, look at yourself in the mirror and say this 5 times. Doing this will feel really awkward and may even sound silly but continue to give it ago for 2 weeks straight, yes 14 days in a row ladies, please don’t even think of skipping 1 day. If you accidentally forget you will need to do twice the following day.
“I love my body and it looks right for me”…
2. If you don’t already wear makeup, start now and see how great it makes you look and feel. If you are clueless than there are a few options, see a Beauty consultant at your nearest department store and pick one who is friendly and helpful. Ask her to help you do your basic makeup that is to apply foundation, eye shadows and blush. Then go home and practice and practice. I know time is of essence but all you need is just 10 minutes a day. Believe me, anyone who is good at applying makeup shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes for daily makeup. Otherwise your trusted friend who already looks great could be of enormous help. Internet or current issues of glossy women magazines are excellent resources too.
3. Stop buying clothes on your own. Go see a professional or personal stylist for a Shopping session. The money you invested will pay for itself in years to come as they give you advice on what looks good and how you can achieve the stylish look for you. They are so valuable in how they can help you see the importance of accessories, colour and clothing choices that will enhance your figure.
4. Perhaps this could be the most important advice so far – think opposite and think illusions. So what do I mean? Well, if you perceive your bottom to be gigantic, thinking opposite means you will need to find another body feature that is opposite to your butt, so it can be your waist, chest, ankles, and arms. Then thinking illusions mean you put clothes and accessories on the body zone that is the opposite. So lets pick the waist as the opposite to the butt. By wearing flowy dresses and tops and put a belt on the waist mean you are always guaranteed that the attention is brought to waist and never the butt.
Another example is if you perceive your waist as chunky yet you have lovely legs. Then your legs are the opposite of your waist. In this case the illusion is to add attention to your legs by wearing knee length skirts, tight pants and leggings that are in bolder colours like cream, white and even skirts in prints and navy or burgundy. Avoid belts and colourful tops that attract attention. Instead go with darker colours on top and lots of embellishments and details around the neck and sleeves. Anything that doesn’t bring attention to your perceived bad body parts means that more attention is on the ones that you love. Eventually you will forget that you even had issues with those body zones.
5. Take time out for yourself. This means doing things you love and it has to be minimum 30 minutes a day and another 2 hour session a week where you spend time outside the home doing what you love. It can be anything from going to the movies, having coffee with friends or painting at a public park. Your spirit and soul will love you and in turn your body will benefit as you won’t be so tough on the PERCEIVED bad body parts.
I hope you find all the tips useful and don’t forget your feedback mean a great deal to me so please fire them at me.
Wishing you a lovely day!
