I just discovered this Atlanta band and am wondering where they have been all of my life! They classify themselves as powerpop/rock/melodramtic, i classify them as simply suberb!
With cute songs like 'This is not Goodbye' and 'So this is Progress', check out this hot up-and-coming band if you are into classic love songs with that rocking band sound.
Unfortunately, they are not doing any major touring at the moment, but if you live in New York, Philadelphia or New Jersey, you're in luck!
So, i have, in the past, promised local bands - And here is my favourite Australian band:
SHORT STACK!
This Newcastle based pop-rock group have recently released their first single and professional video clip for their awesome song 'Drop Dead Gorgeous'.
And...much more importantly, the three young men are terribly good looking, friendly and funny.
Shaun, who plays lead guitar and sings is full of clever quips and sarcasm
Andy, who plays bass and sings back up has some pretty wild dance moves!
Bradie, the ever popular drummer, is most well known for playing half naked (the obvious absense of a shirt is quite a hit with the ladies).
This clip has been wildly popular on the Australian music countdown show 'TV hits' as well as on channel [V] and MTV. As their popularity grows, they have been booking out more shows, from huge events such as the Soundwave festival earlier this year to smaller shows such as the most recent gig at the Annandale Hotel.
Just last weekend, their fans got an amazing present from the band, as they invited them to be a part of their newest video clip for "Shimmy A Go Go" Although the details must remain secret for the sake of the band, i will reveal that the band did a great job and the fans were amazingly dressed to the theme. It took about 7 hours of hard work, but it was a lot of fun and the turn out was great.
So, I hope you all enjoyed (or cringed, as anticipated) at the Soulja Boy edition of my ‘please don’t even try’ seriously bad music posts. Now for the second instalment:
Case 2:
please, put it away!
Well I personally admire intellectual and meaningful lyrics, not to be found in a Tila Tequila song. According to her song 'Stripper Friends' 'we all want the same thing...' (strippers, i presume) and along with this, she has many other deep, emotional songs, such as 'Fuck ya man' and 'I love u' (real original). Also, a quote from her myspace, just for true intellectual enlightenment:
ok what the hell man? I know I have lots of friends on here but it's not like I can help it ok? I didn't join this thing thinking, "OMG I SOOOO HAVE TO GET A MILLION FRIENDS ON HERE!" Yea right! It was more like someone invited me to join and I was like k wutever....another stupid lame online community.
A few Tila facts:
- Tila Tequila has the most myspace friends of any 'musician' at a whopping 3,173,841!
- She is a model, entertainer and singer.
- Her singing career started when she assembled the band Beyond Betty Jean and continued when BBJ broke up and she became the lead singer of the band Jealousy.
- In 2006, She was signed to the Will.I.Am music group, which was anounced by will.I.am himself on MTV’s Total Request Live. Although she was signed to a mjor label, she released her first solo single ‘I Love U’ independently.
Summary: Maybe not the deepest person ever, but her entrepreneurship, independent success and number of myspace friends speak for themselves.
Here is the ‘I Love U’ video, it is pure gold, seriously, it is hilarious!
Thanks to reccommendations from my readers, I present you Tokio Hotel:
Formed in 2001, this German rock band has quickly shot to fame, with four #1 singles and two #1 albums in Germany and have sold almost 3 million CDs and DVDs there
Blaqk Audio. The name might sound somewhat familiar and that would be because this relatively young electronica duo is formed by none other than AFI's Davey Havok and Jade Puget, so you know that you're in for a music sensation. But Blaqk Audio's tunes are nothing like what you'd expect from AFI. From their revamped image:
A band with one of the most unique powerpop/glam rock sounds you will have heard in quite a while, not to mention it has 5 of the hottest band members ever, is Cinema Bizarre. From Berlin, Germany (although their songs are all in English), CB have amazed locals since they met and formed at an Anime convention is 2005, and worldwide with their first album 'Final Attraction
Ok, so we've all heard of the generations a-z, so let me clear things up:
Products of the y generation, such as myself, are those who were born between 1980 and 1997. That leaves Generation Z; those who missed the deadline of the stellar 80's and 90's and were born 1998 onwards
Oh no, I definetely know how amaxing they are! I have seen them a couple of times live, was in their video clip, have been featured on ShortStack TV and have met them all twice!
Thanks so much for reading and keep on dancing
Well, that place looks pretty nice! I'm sure if money were not an issue (sorry for the lack of imagination) but you choice looks just great! But actually...i think I'm more of an expensive ski-out of chateux/lodge somewhere snowy type of girl.
Great post btw!
I'm still in high school and haven't started year 12 yet, so i'm not really looking in depth into scholarships yet, but all information is usefull and interesting!
Haha, thanks for the feedback - but 'emo'? obviously you didn't read my first post!!! y gen? z gen?
There was true 'emo' music in the 80's, but then again, emo stands for emotional - shouldn't all music be at least a little emotional?
