Embedding videos and other HTML code
June 24th 2006 23:07
Embedding videos and other HTML into a post is easy.
Just cut and paste the HTML or Embed Code into your post between some HTML tags:
The 3456 is used so that outside users cannot easily figure out what the HTML tags are and start posting lots of spam so don't tell anyone

Frankly, I don't understand which information Jon is worried spammers will pick up on. But hopefully I haven't given the game away... (Jon, please delete this post, and my corresponding comment in the writers forum, if I have.)

A click option would give spammers access to this embedding feature and that would cause a lot of grief I'm sure.
Just follow Jon's instructions, step by step, and I'm sure you'll get it to work in no time.
Or if you still have problems, e-mail me.
Charles.

Thank-you,

Click on the video clip and it will take you to the Daily Motion website where you can find the embedding code.

I hate to say it, but I am a complete doofus about these things!!!
What is the 'embedded html code' if the video is from my own digital camera and saved on my pc???
Thanks

I am new here, and found this info very helpful already. Since I have some knowledge of HTML and such outside of Orble I am now going to try and help KimL with her question. If I am wrong I do hope Jon or someone will correct me.
If you are taking video from your own camera you will probably need to have it "hosted" somewhere on the web. Once it is hosted somewhere you can then link directly to it, which is basically what you are doing when you use the code to embed a video from a place like YouTube.
I have my own website that I pay for where I can host all my own stuff, but there are places out there that allow you to host images and videos for free. However you will need someone else to help you with the address for those places. Also, you can upload your video to YouTube and then cut and paste the embed code from there. That will however give anyone access to your video, so be sure you realize that before uploading it there.
Hope this helps,
