election day
November 26th 2010 21:42
Two days until election day. There is one every 5 years or so and nobody seems to blink an eye anyway. Cars speed by with megaphones speaking in arabic to convince people to vote for their party, but most ears are shut and have been for a long time. Why is it that people can't seem to see that maybe one day they can make a difference? It is most likely that they have seen the past and only can predict it will always be the same. A corrupt government that rigs the elections so it is possible for one president to be in power for 30 years or more. Election. Election for what they say. So that the presidents son can be placed into the chair to continue the way of Egyptian government.
Sad sad story of ow expectations and no yearning for a change that will in most people's eyes never change much.
So my husband will not vote. As he has never voted and most likely he will never vote in the future. One day he may feel the need to come back just to vote, once he sees some outside perspective that elections and government should be run by the people, and the people's desire for a better society.
We can only hope as Egypt has a heart of gold and the people deserve only the best.
