Eggplant is one of the most known vegetables crops in the Philippines. There are two new varieties of eggplant developed by the Bureau of Plant Industry. They are Digras Long Purple which produced fruits in clusters. Both varieties can be grown successfully during the rain and dry seasons.
The eggplant fruits are good source of Vitamin B. The medicinal value of eggplant in boiling the roots in the water, is taken internally as a general stimulant and as a relief for asthma.
