November 12th 2010 11:16
To enjoy a Quick Delicious Sumptuous Meal of Prawns enjoy this recipe. This is an easy and quick-to-do prawn recipe.

Serves: 6
Preparation Time: 15 to 30 minutes

Ingredients:
500 g prawn tails
1 tbsp oil
1 or 2 tsp curry powder
1 Onion diced and chopped
1 Carrot julienned into strips
˝ Green Capsicum sliced
˝ Red Capsicum sliced
2 Sticks Celery sliced
1 carton of 375 g can of light evaporated milk
1 tbsp flour

Method:

1. Heat the oil in a clean and dry pan. Sauté onions and remove on the heated oil from the pan. When done until golden brown, add curry and prawns together, stir-fry until cooked, and remove from pan. Care is taken that none of them turns crisp but remains tender and the juiciness of the prawns and onions to be blended well.
2. Use prawns juice to cook the remaining vegetables by boiling them in a closed pan. Add more water to immerse the vegetables at least 1/4th more than the level of the vessel and boil well.
3. When the vegetables are half cooked, add the sauted onion, curry and prawn mixture in the vessel where the vegetables were boiled, and cook until the vegetables turn soft and tender, or well cooked.
4. Add the evaporated milk and prawns into this mixture to boil. Heat through and thicken when is time thicken with flour made into a paste with a little water.
5. Simmer until the mixture is cooked well and blended.
6. Serve on a thick bed of white rice.

Tips:

The prawns when frozen and cooked using this recipe was found to taste even better and made the use of ingredients more economical. Frozen prawns when cooked with more curry and less flour are really a very tasty and healthy dish.
Some like more oil added to the dish for a more spicy effect has to add some real chillies.
The dish is a very healthy preparation and to prevent any gastric effect addition of ginger and garlic paste is recommended. The paste is added to the onion and sauted well to prevent any aroma and flavor.
This dish do not require a lengthy grocery list or much of your time and is going to make your tummy heavy with a quick lunch prepared instantly served hot with white and fluffy rice. This is used as a side dish for wheat rolls, chapatti, naan and roti. A real way to enjoy the delicacy of prawn, something that many in my house relish for lunch and dinner, other than me…I started taking some small portions, if I make a prawn preparation in this manner..quite delicious.
