This year is moving! Yesterday I was writing a post on Safe Dog Food and now today, it's Good Friday, 49 days later. Much has happened since then and Atlanta has greened up substantially. The southern humidity is up and on the rise and the days are getting hotter. No complaints here. I am cold intolerant.
I have got so much on my plate right now that my mind has become mush. Anyway, I wanted to tell the world about the church I've been going to for the last two and a half years. And what is best is I can share it with you because they actually have a live webcast at their 11AM and 6PM services, so there is no excuse for not hearing, and seeing the word on Sundays.
First, this is a rock and roll church with light show, visual effects, huge stage, videographers, the whole show is put up on huge screens with the words to the songs underneath so you can sing along. The ministry understands that christian music needs to move you, inspire you, exalt the lord our God. It is an integral part of worship not just time filler.
Go to the link above and you will see a picture of a sunday service. If you don't see a picture of the inside of our church, refresh the screen by using f5 button or whatever and the header photo will change.
Second, in attendence, we are the 2nd largest chuch in the USA. Northpoint Ministries has opened 21 "campuses" across the country, all following the same plan. We are not about money. Money builds more churchs, feeds and clothes more needy people. Money pays salaries, but our head pastor knows who is watching. He knows one day he will be standing before God and asked to account for himself.
Our Mission is to Lead People Into A Growing Relationship with Jesus Christ. That is it. We are not about denominations, or all that od school churchy junk. Andy Stanley wants everyone to understand what God wants and expects from us, right now in 2011.
Second, Andy Stanley is our head pastor. He has been touted as one of the greatest communicators of our time and if you hear his words only one time, I promise you will be moved into wanting to hear more, week after week. Andy understands us. he understands how we tick. He teaches what god means he doesn't preach the we are all sinners and going to the devil stuff. he also knows how to use humor to get his point across. He wears street clothes to church and so does the congregation. In summer, shorts and flip flops are standard garb. And don't forget that cup of Starbucks coffee.
If you are in Atlanta and want a church experience like you have never had in your whole life, please come to Buckhead Church. I promise you will feel totally at ease. You will be wowed at the enormity of the building, and the professionalism of the "host" team, a large group of volunteers who take care of your every need, from parking lot attendents to friendly greeters, to ushers if you need one. And if you can't make it in person, check out Northpointonline dot tv.
Well, gotta go. This easter is a sad one for us. This past tuesday, we lost a boy who we saw grow up from a trouble making 5 year old kid to a wonderful, bright young man. He became like a second son to us. On tuesday morning he was found dead in his bed. Betton Knight -- you will be sorely missed.
Have a good week, everyone, and a good Easter!
