Earning Money as an Orble Writer

June 1st 2006 00:45
Earning money by writing for Orble is as simple as publishing a post. However first you will need to register for a free Google AdSense account. You can quote Orble.com as the website on which you will be publishing your ads.

You then need to submit your AdSense client id through your control panel at my.Orble.com. Once you have submitted your client id adverts attributed to your AdSense account will be shown 50% of the time on any posts you publish on any Orble blog and on the homepage of any blogs you moderate.

There are three places a writer can publish posts on Orble.

Regular Orble Blogs: Anyone can start a regular Orble blog which will be hosted on the Orble.com domain.

Domain Blogs: Domain blogs are hosted on their own domain name. They have a number of advantages over regular Orble blogs including a higher profile, higher reader credibility, more search engine traffic, and participation in traffic sharing with other Orble domain blogs. As a result Domain blogs usually have many more readers than regular Orble blogs and as such generate more revenue. To write your own domain blog simply start a regular Orble blog and write consistently for at least 2 weeks. You will then be considered for promotion to a domain blog which an Orble staff member will set up for you.

Open Blogs: Open blogs are domain blogs which have the capacity for more than one writer to publish posts on them. You can read more about open blogs here, including how to apply to write for one or how to list your blog on the open blogs page. Open blogs are usually older more established blogs which already have a large number of regular readers and they enable a new writer to start writing for a large audience straight away.

Another advantage of writing for an established open blog is that older blogs attract more search engine traffic. Most search engines penalise new websites (send them less traffic) until they are at least 6 months old. Google, the most popular search engine, penalises websites until they are at least 1 year old and sometimes as long as 18 months. Readers which arrive at a blog through a search engine are around 10 times more likely to click on an ad and so older sites have a distinct advantage in terms of generating revenue. A new writer that starts by writing for a older open blog can skip the 6 or 12 month waiting period.

For bloggers who moderate older blogs there are a number of advantages to opening up your blog to other writers. First of all your blog will have more fresh material and so you will find it easier to attract and keep regular readers. Blogs which have more than one contributing writer are also mostly perceived as being more credible. Secondly, it is thought that search engines favour websites with a large amount of content and so your own posts on your blog will benefit. Thirdly the blog moderator's ads will also be shown on the blog's homepage so any increased traffic from extra posts will benefit the moderator directly. Remember that the moderator maintains complete control over who is able to publish posts on their blog and so can easily retain control over the quality of content.

Another important factor in determining how much you will earn writing for Orble is the size of your "back catalogue" of posts. The more posts you have published the more search engine traffic you will attract and the more revenue you will earn. It is also important to write as many posts as you can on subjects which people are likely to search for through the search engines and which will not go out of date. This way once you have written a post it will generate revenue indefinitely. For example a post called "How to change a car tyre" will remain relevant however a post entitled "Tony Blair gets a new haircut" will quickly go out of date. It is also very important to use the correct titles for your posts. You can learn more about writing for the search engines here.

You should also consider the subject of the posts you are publishing. Google AdSense tries to put ads on each page to suit the content of that page. For instance a post about cars will most likely have ads on it related to the auto industry. This is important because some kinds of ads are worth much more than others and it can vary from 1 cent per click to anything up to $50.

A small number of examples of ad subjects which are worth quite a lot include:

real estate
finance
cars
personals
gadgets

Google keeps the return on each kind of ad a secret however you can get a good estimate by thinking about what kind of things people who are reading your post may be interested in buying. If the answer includes things which are relatively expensive and which can be sold or advertised over the internet then the ads are probably worth a lot.

So to summarise: To earn money writing for Orble you should publish lots of posts on old blogs with good titles on subjects which don't go out of date and which attract expensive AdSense ads.

Obviously this style of writing is not going to suit everyone and another very important consideration is the enjoyment you get out of blogging which often exceeds monetary rewards.

Can you tell us how we access our account to see how much we've earned? I can't see to find this on the site.

Luke -- you should be able to get your password sent to you by Google.

Mike -- If you login to your AdSense account you will be able to see your revenue stats.

Jon.

All I can see on my adsense account is info for my other blog, at blogger. Do I have to add this one in somewhere on adsense itself?

yeah I tried them, they said they couldn't send it to me and that I'd have to just re-sign up.

Luke -- let me know how you get on.

Mike -- You will need to ad a URL channel to your adsense account. You should probably also get a domain blog instead of a regular Orble blog.

This whole thing just confuses the heck out of me. I never quite got the adsense thing and then thought I'd worked it out - not too sure I did it correctly though.
But the other thing was that I used to be able to view commission stats on my blog in Orble and now they've disappeared.
I don't know what I have and haven't done wrong and I haven't received any money since I started in September, so my husband keeps telling me not to waste my time, but right now, more than anything I want to understand what on earth I have or haven't done, if you know what I mean and any of this makes sense.

I managed to sign up top adsense, but am not sure what to do next.
I assume I have to stash the HTML code somewhere on my control panel here, but am not sure where exactly it goes.
Is it in modify or settings or in my blog post?
(sorry... I havent done this before!)

I am one of your bloggers here, my question is how will i know how much adsense i earned. When i see my blog stats here , i have hits but when i see my channels at Google Adsense, i hardly have hits and i never earned even a dollar for almost six months of blogging here.

I maintain a domain blog here and i'm confuse why i don't earn when my blog stats at orble said i have hits.

I have tried signing up an account in adsense but it will not accept my application since i do not have a postal code. What can I do? I live in an island that does not require postal code since everbody knows everybody. Kidding aside, Turks and Caicos Islands does not have a postal code. In fedex, we only use BWI which stands for British West Indies.

Can someone help me on how I can proceed with my application for an adsense account? It does not make sense to me, they have listed our country yet they do not know that it does not have zip code.

I would suggest that you try making something up that the algorithm will accept.

Yup, most systems don't actually pay any attention to the postal code. It's just something the Americans initiated for the most part on Internet fill-in boxes. Only rarely will you find that one of these pages actually understands what you've put in!

Thanks guys. Well, when I tried deleting the 00000-000 something pops out of the zip code portion and somehow it ridiculously abbreviated Turks and
Caicos Islands.

Luckily, if I do get paid from Adsense, my paycheck will reach me safely.

Another question, I've read from the Adsense forum that writers are having some issues with regards to the payments and contacting the management. Has anybody from the group actually made bucks from AdSense and did not have any problem whatsoever from them?

We at Orble have not had any problems in regards to payment from them and I've not heard about problems from any other Orble bloggers.

I am unable to get an adsense account due to problems a few years ago (me thanks brothers for clicking ads for their personal gain) and was wondering if something like adsense could be used instead?

Hi Jon! I hope you could help me. I already have an adsense client id. You said in your post that I just need to submit my client id in the control panel part of my orble. I can't find there where I could submit it. Accdg to google I just need to paste my adsense code in my blog or website. However, up to now I'm still confused where should I be pasting it. Do you know how I would be able to post my adsens after the main title of my blog and inside my posts? Hoping for your immediate reply! Thanks!
