Driving 401 - The Final Course

February 3rd 2011 11:33
Good morning! Well this is it. The final chapter of this sorry series on driving in the hood. But this bad driving phenomena is everywhere. Yesterday we covered the "trash" issue, and the right on red issue. All of those are examples of young, stupid, or just plain road ragey people. Today is no different.

"The seal me in" manuever. This is executed on the expressway when a car is trying to enter. A car already on the interstate sees you on the entrance ramp. He speeds up to shadow you then along side you. As your ramp begins to disappear, he speeds up or slows down with you to "seal you in" your ramp. This has nearly cost me my car at times.

"The seal me in with a twist" manuver. Also on the interstate, this is performed by a speeding car, sadly I must say I am guilty of doing this. You are speeding, (Hey we got 505 miles to our destination, 55 just wont cut it). So you are approaching a group of cars. Instead of just getting over in the fast lane, you wait for the last second and switch one lane, that is important, only one lane thus sealing the car in it's place. It can be devestating for the victim by the way.

There are many more but this is the last one and it is new. For the longest time we thought it was tourists who missed their turn. Turns out this is classic "hood" driving. Life lesson: Strength is everything, and easy is fantastic. The road belongs to you and all those signs, lights, and lanes are merely suggestions. If you come to an intersection and find you are in the wrong lane dont adjust just go up there and turn. It infuriates people and besides it is no sweat off your brow. By the way, the more dangerous it is the more points you get.

I am talking about the latest in dangerous, anti-social driving techniques. No they are not lost or anything of the sort. This is a purposeful manuveur designed by people who think the current rules of driving were designed by "The Man", to subjugate society. Yes, it's the dreaded right turn from the left lane, or left turn from the right lane technique. It has now become fashionable to make it as dangerous and devestating as possible. The last one I saw was yesterday and it was on a 4 lane one way headed toward a 5 lane one way heading to the right. He was in the far left lane and decided to take a right turn. The light was red so he executed a right on red without stoping manuveur combined with the turning right across FOUR lanes. Wow!

No one is doing anything to stop them. They are not tourists. These are purposeful manuveurs. These are either really bad or really mad drivers that need to be retrained. This whole series has brought up all kinds of ideas for future blogs. I would like to say what I know about how one group of people was raised to a point of being anti-social, and also the ramifications of this bad driving coming from the fact that "The Right Of Way" is not taught or at least not stressed as the cornerstone of driving! Indeed, it is the cornerstone of decent living for Peter's sake.

Oh well, off my soap box and on to bigger things. Next issue in about three days. I have to write some articles for my website.

To Our Huge Success,

J.D.
