What's Not Important :)

Well, today we can look at why I quit selling Nutrimetics and Avon products. I originally took up selling this stuff (previously I'd been a Body Shop at Home consultant), as a way of making some pocket money after having my first baby.
Now, I don't mind a bit of cleanser and moisturiser, because soap ruins my face, but the stuff women were buying from me was just ridiculous. There is, as everyone knows, a huge range of skin care products on the market today. A huge proportion of that industry is specifically targeted at women who don't want to look their age. I don't mean old, I just mean their age. And women are shelling out big bucks for this crap.
I had one customer who would order half a dozen of every single anti-wrinkle anti-ageing product I could sell her, every time she saw me. She was spending enormous amounts of money, and she's only in her early forties.
I started to have a bit of a moral crisis. I, myself, couldn't give a rat's bum about ageing gracefully. Of all the things in the world to worry about, and remember, I like to worry about EVERYTHING, it doesn't even make my list.
I guess some women think that, of all the things in the world to worry about, this is one thing they have some control over. Well, I hate to spoil things for you ladies, but the stuff you're smearing all over your faces is garbage. Have you read the labels? Are you really comfortable putting all of those chemicals on your skin?
I don't think many women realise (or do they just block it from their minds?) that their skin is their body's largest organ. Everything you put on it is absorbed into the body. Where it wreaks havoc.
I also think they don't know that what they eat and drink has a far more profound affect on their skin than any cream they'll ever use. Nutrients from food and drinks are 100 times more powerful than skin cream. Smoking, drinking, drugs (including medications), the sun, stress, poor diet. These are the reasons you look so tired.
So if you're really worried about the way you look, stay out of the sun, stop smoking, stop drinking, don't do drugs, eat well, learn to relax (especially about the way you look!), and THAT will make a difference.
Anyway, back to that moral crisis! To me, selling these women all of these magic potions was only serving to fortify their poor opinions of themselves. I was helping them dissolve their self-esteem, perpetuating the idea that they had to look at least ten years younger than they were. I finally got to the point where I just couldn't do it anymore. I could think of a hundred things these women would be better off spending their money on, and refused to take another cent.
I'm not judging people who use products like these. I just think you guys need to wake up. Use your money for more worthwhile things. Stop filling the very deep pockets of these cosmetic companies, and stop poisoning your bodies with chemical-laiden 'miracle' creams that are anything but.
Am I wrong??
