Sonnet About Wanting a Domain Blog
September 26th 2006 00:00
How I wish this blog had it’s own domain
Although ‘tis nice to have my work displayed
And seen more than chameleons in a glade
I have succumbed to the urge to complain
Since I desire the chance to obtain
Cash, money, dollars – I want to get paid
If from my writing some money was made
‘Twould be sweeter than a Hershey’s parade
As I’ve perused the contents of this site
Some domain blogs have been idle for days
And sometimes weeks and yet Orble pays
Them but not me and that doesn’t seem right
For now I accept my fate with a sigh
And wish that I’d had the guts to apply
Of course, there is a good chance that I would’ve been rejected for a Domain blog. The form did ask for samples of about 300 words each, and sonnets done properly cannot contain three hundred words. It would probably be nearly impossible to convince the powers that be that I can write a sonnet every day, anyway, when I had never committed myself to doing that before. I can’t turn back the clock, and now I’ll just keep writing and hope that I earn an invitation in the near future.

I reckon, making a lot of comments in other people's blogs would be a good starting point.
Then write a lot of sonnets about sex.
That should do it...

Philosophy doesn't sell, you see.
So, if they give me a cheque for $40 at the end of the year, I'll say thanks, then go and spend in on dinner and a couple of drinks.

The shortcuts are these:
-- Sex is one way.
-- Just picking a news headline that people want to talk about is another.
-- A third is having something that's interactive.
-- A fourth is just being really cheap and commenting a lot of times on your own blog, so that the ratings go up.
-- A fifth is getting a domain name that people will search under. I reckon this is why "Aussie city life" is one of the top blogs.
Medium-cut:
-- Write endless comments.
Long-cut:
-- Do all the various things that make your traffic go up, leave links to your site all over the net, blog every day, etc.
Long-shot:
-- Become famous and/or get your blog mentioned on television somehow.

Me again!
How about you do a post about your writing? You know, how I have...how millions of others have....but it seems to be a popular topic...
And you're obviously a writer...
