My job sucks

April 29th 2009 22:55
This actually happened to me. I submitted this to Notalwaysright.com

Really Long Link

Customer: “I’d like a table for two, please.”

Me:” For two? Alright, it should only be about a minute. We have some tables being cleaned right now.”

Customer: “Oh, okay.”

(Thirty seconds later…)

Customer: “Oh my God! what is taking so long?!”

Me: “I’m sorry, ma’am, our busser is still cleaning the table. He should be done in a couple of minutes.”

Customer: “Ugh! Well, this is just taking forever. Y’know, at my house, it wouldn’t take me this long to clean up my table!”

Me: “Umm… want a job?”

Customer: “What?! Oh…that was good.” *smiles*

(After that, she calmly waited for the table to be cleaned.)

Donny here,

I decided instead of going on a rant about religion and what not I was going to post up my speech I did persuading people that Atheism is better than Christianity. It's still in the format from which i read it, not like a normal essay or anything. Hope you enjoy, oh and feel free to leave hate comments as well, like the name of the blog, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!!!!

There is no God, and no Devil. We have no souls to be saved or damned, this is the only life we live. There is no “kingdom in the sky” or a pit of fire that we are going to go to depending on how we behave. Now that’s not necessarily true but it is what I believe in.
Today I’m here to persuade you that Atheism is a better choice than Christianity.
We as educated students like to share our thoughts and beliefs with others around us. And according to the surveys I took 50% of you said it was ok to try and convert others to your religion and over 25% of you were not sure. Well I’m just here to share my views with you all. I myself am an Atheist, and I have researched Atheism and Christianity from a few sources including, Richard Dawkins book The God Delusion, www. Infidels.org, Christopher Hitchens book God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, www.Biblegateway.com, and the surveys taken in from all of you.
First I want to talk to you about how Atheism relies on logic and science, next how Atheism believes in equality, and finally how Atheism focuses on progression.

Transition: Let’s begin by talking about what Atheism relies on.

Atheism relies on logic and science. Unlike Christianity which takes the majority of its beliefs from the bible. The bible is nothing more than a big book of fables, similar to that of Aesop’s fables because they are only there to teach moral codes or lessons. But Christians like to pick and choose which of these morals to believe in, even though they are supposed to follow all of them. A popular passage among conservative Christians is Leviticus 20:13 (From the New International Version of the bible) QUOTE (“If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”) END QUOTE. In other words homosexuality is a sin. And many Christians strongly agree with this passage but if you look at Deuteronomy 21:21 (From the New International Version of the bible) it says QUOTE (“Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.”) END QUOTE. This tells us to stone disobedient children. You can’t just pick and choose what to follow. Christians are not supposed to disobey any passage in the bible but many if not all Christians do. Atheists do not have any set of values that are forced upon them; we choose our own guidelines in life. We did not need the Ten Commandments to figure out that murder is wrong, I’m pretty sure people could have figured it out on their own. And just because I don’t follow the Ten Commandments doesn’t mean that I’m going to start going around killing people and stealing their belongings. It is possible to derive your own moral codes from other sources.

Science is a big part of our lives now. And most educated Atheists understand and follow the discoveries of science. The fact that scientific studies have proven certain things in the bible wrong or impossible is a little more appealing to me because it’s just a lot more credible.
Transition: Now that you know that Atheism relies on logic and science let’s talk about our belief in equality.
Christianity is always talking about tolerance and preaching equality among all human beings. But Christians constantly bash other religions, gays, Atheists, and more. Where is the equality in that? Christians are constantly telling people they are going to hell for committing sins, we don’t believe in sins. And Christians wonder why Atheism attacks Christianity so much, because we’re always being told we’re sinners and heathens. We didn’t do anything to you, we choose not to believe the same things you do so you feel the need to ostracize and make us the pariahs of society for having a separate opinion. Christians tell Atheists they are wrong with absolutely no proof so Atheists find ways to disprove your beliefs. Atheists do their own thing; we don’t go around telling everyone else they are wrong every chance we get. We try to see everyone as equal, with their own opinions and views. But when you come up to us and tell us we are wrong for our beliefs; of course we’re going to come right back at you with an opposing argument. So you can’t preach equality when you clearly don’t believe we are all equals. As the great British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science author Richard Dawkins stated in his book The God Delusion QUOTE “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” END QUOTE. Since Christianity is prejudice, Atheism is a better choice. Because Atheism isn’t prejudice

Transition: You see that Atheism believes in equality so now I’ll show you how Atheism focuses on progression.

Atheism focuses on progression of the world around us. Atheists believe in science and logical thought. We try to better understand the world around us so we can better the quality of mankind. Christians seem to always look forward to the end of the world. Christians look at bettering the world only for personal gain. They are looking for that ticket into heaven. They aren’t concerned with this world; they are concerned with the afterlife. Because this life is only meant as judgment to see how your next life is going to be. You’d be surprised how many people fell this way even if you personally don’t. Atheists on the other hand believe this is the only life we live, so of course we’re going to try to make the most of it. We try to educate ourselves and others around us by researching natural phenomena and trying to figure out how the world really works. We look for answers instead of just rationalizing everything with God has a plan” or “God did it”. Sorry but that’s not good enough for me. I want to know why things turned out the way they did, why the world goes round or why people act the way they do. And “God did it” tells me nothing.

Counter-claim: Some of you may believe that Atheism is not a better choice than Christianity because Atheism has no moral value.

Rebuttal: However, Atheists do have good moral values, we just don’t like people telling us what rules to follow and we find our own morals to believe in.

In conclusion, today I’ve persuaded you that Atheism is a better choice than Christianity. First we talked about how Atheism relies on logic and science instead of an outdated book of fables. Next we spoke of how Atheism actually upholds equality instead of just preaching it, and finally we discussed how Atheism focuses on progression instead of waiting for the end of the world. I hope that after hearing my speech you were able to open your mind a little to other beliefs around you. Atheism is not for everyone and I am not trying to convert you, I just wanted to shine some light on the subject in hopes that you might open your mind to it. And just for fun I’d like to end with a quote from the late comedian George Carlin on his stand on religion. QUOTE (“Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you.”) END QUOTE I thank you all for not throwing things or yelling obscenities at me while I was speaking.

The reason I don't drink

April 28th 2009 10:24
Donny again,

We'll it's almost 5 in the morning and i don't feel tired at all. Just to be safe and make sure I don't sleep through my exam I've decided to just stay awake until then.

A lot of my friends drink or use some other kind of substance. I on the other hand have never drank, done any sort of drug that wasn't prescription (I didn't even take the pain killers prescribed after my root canal), but i did smoke part of a cigarette when i was around 8. I used to go to a lot of parties with some friends and people would always try to get me to drink. Of course i refused. But they always want to know why i don't drink, do drugs, or smoke. I usually just tell them it's a personal choice. We'll I'm just going to put the real reason here (which i have told some and my closest friends).

The real reason i choose not to drink is because my parents are alcoholics. Growing up in an environment like that and knowing how it feels I could never put my own children or loved ones through such horrible shit. Those that have not experienced seeing a loved one struggle with an addiction such as alcoholism are extremely lucky in my opinion. It has definitely fucked me up mentally in many ways. For those of you who don't know what it's like just imagine for me, going home to a house to a parent that is already so wasted they can barely move around. I would always here about kids at school who say that their parents are like best friends to them. I couldn't even talk to my parents because they weren't really there, physically yes, but lacking in the mental capacity necessary to carry on a conversation. Even if i did talk to them about something bothering me, chances are they wouldn't remember it the next day.

It wasn't always like that though, my dad was an alcoholic for as long as I can remember, but not my mom. My mom was slowly drifting away from the world of sobriety. After my parents split up things only got worse for her. She began to drink just as much as my dad did. She also started to get into pills that my aunt gave her. Those mixed with the alcohol made her so lethargic and comatose that she wasn't even there. She was a different person entirely. This really hurt me because I love my mom more than anything in the world (my dad on the other hand could go die and I might smile uncontrollably) Sometimes there was no dinner, no food in the house, and sometimes she even went to my dads house for days at a time. We live with my grandpa also so he still took care of us the best he could.

Sometimes shit got so bad I couldn't wait for the week to be over so I could just escape over to Cody's house. Things were different over there, I was happy. But depression would start to set in as the weekend came to a closing; soon I was back home again, immersed in the shit that was my life.

I should also mention that my family isn't a very loving one. I see friends family's hug each other when they leave, tell each other they love one another, things like that. Not my family, I could go to Cody's for the weekend without telling anyone I'm leaving and not get a single call asking where I was. That sounds really bad ass huh? Being able to go out and do whatever i wanted without the OK. It really isn't, it kind of makes you feel a lack of love and care really.

My grandpa is the one who set me on the right path. He noticed I was smarter than most people in my family, he noticed that I had a chance to get out of dirt and make something of myself. He helped me get through high school with a good GPA and into a good college. He once told me something that is still with me today and is the real root to my complete sobriety, he told me the best way to stop an addiction is by never starting. So never did and never will.

I could never put my kids in that kind of environment. I am going to make something of my life and give my kids the childhood I wish i could of had. They will never have to experience an alcoholic parent. They wont know what it's like to go to sleep hungry, or to feel unloved. They wont have to go to a friends house to escape everything and be happy. They will never know of the pain I've endured, or the lessons I've had to learn to be the man I am. I will never abandon my children due to an addiction (dad). They will receive everything they need and everything they deserve.

So don't you ever try to tempt me with alcohol, because that is a good way to piss me the fuck off.

There is so much more shit I could say but I have a feeling I'm starting to rant (and unfortunately that's not what I'm trying to do right now).

I will end this one now, might make more posts of random shit considering I still have to stay up for about 2 more hours before I go eat and prepare for the exam.

Thanks for reading and if you've ever experienced anything like this feel free to leave a heart felt comment about your experiences below; it would be greatly appreciated.

Whats up it's Donny again,

Yeah my sleep schedule is all sorts of fucked up! For the last 3 days i have woken up after 5 pm...kill me. Finals are coming up and I'm pretty sure they will rape me. I have a calculus 1 lab exam at 9:30 am, i have to wake up at 7:30 to eat and get to the math lab by 8 to study for a bit before the exam. Then I might go to english (i doubt it) then workout and i will make myself sit in the library for the rest of the fucking day to study for my calc 1 test and Engineering exam on Wednesday. College is pissing me off! I really have to pee

Hopefully this will be interesting.

But I doubt it. I'm just gonna move at my own pace with this post, try and stay with me. I'll do my best to keep it simple.

I hate Andy Warhol. There is no way you can convince me he was worthy of any recognition he has received. He made shitty art and in my eyes should be blamed for hipsters.Fuck hipsters. Yet, I love groups like Team Canada DJs, Girl Talk, DJ AM who are djs who do mash-ups. Mash-ups are some of my favorite styles of music. But when I see his Marilyn Monroe prints, or just a simple picture of Campbell's tomato soup I just get really annoyed. I haven't figured out why I can enjoy someone using a beat from one song to the lyrics of another, but hate 70's pop art,

Why do i need a title

April 25th 2009 01:07
Donny here, so I'm finally getting out for summer in less than 2 weeks, pretty exciting. I go to The University of Texas at Tyler and this is my first year. I don't get to visit home much but when i do it's usually a blast. I see family but i mostly try to see my friends. Anyways I'm just going to be spouting out random shit in this because I'm trying to get some posts on here. Cody will also be joining me in this blog, don't worry he is a lot better at typing interesting things. I'll probably post up a lot of corny jokes or stories and Atheist related things because they entertain me. Eww i just wiped snot on my keyboard...

So I'm listening to some 2Pac at the moment, why did his best album come out long after his death? Crazy! One thing that really pisses me off is that I'm going to miss 4 great shows in the 2 weeks before i come home, I missed Lamb of God, Dope, I'm going to miss Underground Sound featuring 8e Tribe/Mike Terror, and mc chris. FUCKING SHIT!!!! And when i do get home there isn't going to be many good shows left to see. I've been waiting a long time for Dope to come to Houston too. And their latest album "No Regrets" is pretty bad ass! Which makes it even worse that I'm missing the fucking show. Below this post it's asking if it is going to be family friendly, I don't think any of these posts are going to be "family friendly" but it's whatever, I mean how many kids actually get on the internet to look at someones random blog???? I fucking hate the internet, and little kids annoy me sometimes. A lot of little kids talk mad shit these days and there isn't much you can do about it, you can't really hit them and run that doesn't work

Just letting you know

April 25th 2009 00:34
This particular blog will be filled with completely random topics. Some may make sense to you and others may not. Some could be informative but most likely it will be a lot of ranting so if you like ranting you're gonna love it! I'll keep this one short and sweet.

Don't stop stating your opinion just because a few people don't agree with you. You have every right to say what you think. Being a new found Atheist I see absolutely no problem with letting people know my beliefs (as they have no problem letting me know theirs) Atheists don't have to be in the closet anymore, it's not something to be ashamed of. Sure you're going to get some idiots disagreeing with you, ignore them because you can get a lot more people to agree with you and support you. I know i do!
