Do you keep secrets?

Dirty….Little….Secrets!
Do you keep secrets?
I bet you do – we all do!
If someone was to tell you that they have no secrets and that their life is an open book, then I would have to say………………
What a load of rubbish!
We all have secrets even if we think we don’t. There are those secrets that we choose to forget and those that have faded into insignificance because that’s all that they are - insignificant. No matter what we say – we are all guilty of harboring secrets.
Is it OK to keep secrets? Why do we keep secrets? Perhaps:
• we want to start afresh and so keep some aspects of our lives close to our chest so as not to taint others’ positive opinions of ourselves;
• some secrets are kept to protect others;
• some secrets, if exposed, have consequences;
• some secrets are just too embarrassing to reveal; and
• some secrets others just simply do not need to know about.
Regardless, there are many reasons why we keep secrets. But, is there a boundary for that which is an acceptable secret and for that which is not? Where do we draw the line? Well, I obviously don’t know for secrets have brought about the undoing of my life. These are secrets that I would not have considered to come with consequences, but, alas, I was wrong. Or maybe I am not wrong. Perhaps, I will share them with you and let you be the judge……………..
