Do as I say and not as I do

Have you ever seen some good advertisements that just appeal to you because they're charming or quirky in some way but when you think about it seriously it is downright dangerous? It brings to mind the Febreze ads where the people just can't stop smelling the product because it smells so nice. My wife was taken in by the ad and bought a can. I couldn't help read the label and would you believe that on the can are the words "do not inhale"?
Hmmm....so if we are not supposed to inhale the contents, why does the ad show people continually inhaling? It seems to me that Febreze hasome kind of explaining to do. We are often told not to do what is in the ad as it may be dangerous. Do you see any warning on the ad that says "Do not try this at home! Professional sniffers!" No neither did I. I hope someone tries it at home just to test the legal system.
Speaking of household goods that smell my wife and I went into a wholesale the other night looking for laundry detergent. Interestingly I found a detergent that supposedly smelt of mangoes and apples. I always thought that most people try and get rid of the fruity smell instead of putting it back in. Apparently not. Why would someone really want to smell of mangoes and apples? Who comes up with this stuff? Really? And what kind of person would buy it? I don't know anyone who wants to smell like a giant mango or an apple. Unless of course you're looking to attract unwanted attention.
It's like these other smells that we try and bottle that don't really fit in as laundry detergents. Summer breeze, Pine Fresh and Ocean scent all sound nice, don't they? It's a little hard to imagine walking past someone and they tell me I smell like a summer breeze. Trust me I've been told I smell quite a few times but never like a summer breeze or the ocean. I guess it's because summer breezes and the ocean aren't always nice. Some winds at that time of the year are just uncomfortable when you just want something to cool you down. Perhaps they could have a winter breeze detergent in summer and the summer one in winter. Think of all of the attention you could get especially from the opposite sex! Your opening line to her or him could be "Since it's so cold/hot and I use the summer/winter breeze detergent, we could stay together all day and whenever you want someone to blow you, I'm the man/woman for the job! " I'm sure you'll go far with lines like that.
