Welcome again to the second shot of DJ Dapto's Rant of the week.
I am ashamed to say that Cricket has again dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week. So much to say and really don't know where to start............
Firstly I would like to congratulate the Australian selectors for finally shoving Big Ears Gilchrist out the door. It's the first wise selecton move they have made in a while. My only beef is that it has come about 7 years to late. Gilly was on fire the first couple of summers that he played but lets face it other than a few fleeting knocks with the blade his form with gloves could be likened to that of swimming superstar from the 2000 Sydney Olympics Eric "The Eel" Sumfuckembowy (last name may not be entirely accurate). Sure they provided a few minutes of entertainment and they will forever be remembered on highlight reels around the country but we all know that they don't belong on the international stage with the great athletes.
I don't want people to write in and jump up and down as I do respect GIlly for what has given to the sport but as a gloveman he was shite!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone was celebrating the other day because he had achieved the world record for dismissals but what they failed to recognise was that it should have been a double celebration becuase I think with the catch he shelled in the first innings that gave him the record for most dropped catches in international cricket.
Another who is fast approaching Gilly's record for most dropped catches is one M.Clarke who came in for some serious treatment from this blogger last week. If he is so happy to claim he won a test match 4 weeks ago I am happy to say he cost us the test match just gone. Obviously he had his mind on Bingle when he made his "bingle" by dropping Sewhag on 1 which in turn has cost us 150 runs (Sehwag was 151 not out.......you do the math!!!!!!!) and in turn has prevented Australia having any chance of chasing down the 30 or 40 runs we would have been chasing. Yet the "media darling" once again escaped any criticism and was once again heralded as our next skipper. Give me a F#$KING rest already.................
What was Punter doing not taking his place on the field in the slips cordon????? What was Gilly thinking putting this dick at 2nd slip??????? Has cricket in this great proud land gone completely f#&king mad!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly I would like to approach the racism debate that has reared it's ugly head again this week when Harbajan "Monkey Magic" Singh was cleared based on stump microphone footage that the Indian's had somehow "magically" obtained after 4 weeks. The real irony in in all this is that you can hear them all speaking but you never hear him say "Big Monkey" to Roy. I suggest someone has gone to the old editing room and chopped and changed to suit their needs. This only compounds the issue and makes it even more laughable when the ICC said that Singh would have his penalty for racially insulting Roy squashed on appeal due to lack of evidence but then charged him with using language that is deemed offensive or hurtful to another person. How can they say that they have no evidince that he called him a Monkey yet turn around and say we have evidence that he did use offensive language???????? Why did Singh plead guilty to the lesser charge??????? It would be easier to find out who killed JFK or Bob Woolmer then work out what the F#$K the ICC were thinking. If I was Singh the monkey slayer I would have told them to stick the lesser charge up there arses and I want to be found not guilty off all charges. I then would have started legal action against all of the Australian players involved and Cricket Australia and the ICC for defaming me.
Once again the ICC have put the money that the curry munchers generate ahead of what is best for the game. There was a photo of Monkey Magic in the paper the other day and he had a look of guilt on his face matched only by OJ Simpson. Maybe Singh could write a book called "How I would have racially abused him if I done it"
Finally folks I would like to finsih up by saying what a shame it is to young Shaun "Wild Thing" Tait quit all forms of cricket becuase he can't handle the pressure of being in the public eye and the constant scrutiny of being an elite athlete in Australia's highest performing side..............PLEASE!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy has played 3 tests and is 24 years of age. I would like to offer my free and unqualified opinion to you Mr Tiat.........You are F#$KING NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean seriously it's not like you've been a permanent fixture in the side or anything you've played 3 tests for christ sake!!!!!!!!!!!!
So with that in mind that is my rant for the week and until next time this is DJ Dapto saying monkey is not a dirty word..........Just a word used by dirty people
