Discrimination - enough already!

I have to admit, I will probably catch a lot of slack for this post, but I am so fed up with the word “discrimination”. People use this word as an excuse, and quite frankly, I for one am sick of it!
Your skin is a different color, you are a woman instead of a man, you are gay, you have disabilities… okay, have I listed almost every single person reading this post? WE ALL CAN BE DISCRIMINATED against. Why does every person who isn’t white, or who is gay, or who is a woman searching for a career in a man driving field – or vise versa, scream discrimination for everything? That is why they didn’t get that job. That is why they didn’t get the help at the grocery store. That is why someone complained about them. It is always the reason. No, it’s not.
There may be a place in Hickville America where there is still discrimination, but I have to tell you here in FL, and in most of this great country, you can’t call it that because it’s just an excuse for your own actions. Maybe the reason that you didn’t get that job is because someone else was more qualified than you! My husband has gone on countless interviews and hasn’t gotten the jobs that he has applied for. He is a typical white boy. But I bet when he does get the job one day, that someone who didn’t will claim discrimination.
No, you didn’t get that help at the store because of your skin, sexual preference, disability, or whatever you call different that drives you to believe you are discriminated against – maybe it was just busy, maybe you didn’t ask more than one person, maybe you just don’t have the patience to wait!
Why is someone complaining about your kids being out of control? Why is someone complaining that you are being loud and obnoxious? Why is someone complaining that you don’t keep your house up? Why is someone complaining that you are always late? Take a good look at yourself – maybe they are just speaking the truth! It has nothing to do with discrimination!
Do you know why discrimination still has a place in America – because we allow it! If everyone would quit calling discrimination and stop using it as an excuse then it would have already been null and void. I am not saying that in SOME cases you could have a reason to call discrimination, but the real cases are few and far. Quit complaining, quit belly achin, and move on to the 21st century!
